My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Craving something sweet?

Sugar is estimated to be just 10 months old, a little puppy! She currently weighs in at 37 pounds, and we think she may be a Lab mix, with possibly some Golden in there. She is a rescue, so these are just our best guesses.

Fall in love with Sugar here: https://youtu.be/6lUz1YoN92o?feature=shared

The sweetest thing about Sugar is the natural love she has for children. She adores her foster mom’s 8 and 11 year old grandchildren. She visibly softens around them, listens to commands from them, and loves all of the extra attention and excitement they bring. She can be a little eager to play, and her fostergrands are mindful to correct her (aww, isn’t it sweet when the whole family helps train the dog?) and not too pushy with her- kids similar in age or older would likely be best for her. Sugar’s love extends to all of humanity really, after a bit of initial shyness she was so loving with our behavior team, and even a tall, male kennel tech. She’s regularly dog-sat by a college aged man who she loves and gets excited for, but her favorite person is obviously her foster mom! She’s just loyal like that.

With other dogs, Sugar is equally as loving. She lives with a big Rottie mix and a big schnauzer mix, both of which are besties to her! They romp and play in the back yard, and coexist peacefully inside. We got to see Sugar meet a confident playful male Pittie mix named Ramble, and she was so tolerant with him! He was a little pushy meeting her, and she handled it well, and then initiated play with a big bow. We also got to see her meet an energetic female Bulldog mix, and they also became fast friends! Sugar followed her around sniffing for a few seconds, and then it was off to the races! Sugar takes a ton of confidence from other dogs- she would love her own emotional support dog! Her perfect doggy match? A confident, goofy male- someone that’s not too pushy, not too much of a wrestler, but will play from time to time.

Sugar’s foster mom has nothing but sweet things to say about her. Sugar has been a perfect little foster pup, taking to training pretty quickly and coexisting peacefully with the other dogs and humans that live in and visit the home. Sugar is good in the car, pretty easy on leash, and just an easy dog to manage all around. She is kennel trained, and her foster mom brags that she’s recently started getting in without a treat! She does absolutely love treats though, she’s one of the most food motivated dogs we’ve seen.

We also had a chance to see her meet our house cat Biggie. We believe she is cat-tolerant and capable of living with dog-savvy kitties.

Sugar is a happy-go-lucky medium energy girly. She has tons of energy to play, but she also loves to nap. She would make a perfect little WFH companion dog!

Sweetheart Sugar is ready for her forever family! She’s more of a suburbia or country girl than a city girl, the hustle and bustle of shared-walls-super-close neighbors really isn’t for her. We are willing to test Sugar with anything you need us to in order to ensure she is the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
