Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Pike! This handsome fella has had a rough year and is looking for his forever home. We placed Pike 3 years ago with a wonderful couple and after a string of bad luck they decided the best option for Pike was to find him a new home. After some R&R and lotsof TLC we are ready to find that home for our gentle giant!
Pike would love a home where he can get out for regular low impact exercise - romping in a big yard, playing with another friend or two at the park, leisurely walks - and have the opportunity to be a couch potato. He loves to lay on his back like a dead bug with all of his feet in the air and certainly knows how to get a laugh! He is good with kids, but because of his size we recommend a home with older children so he doesn't knock his brothers and sisters over. He could go in a home with cats, but he is definitely curious about them so younger cats only that are dog savvy and have high places to rest in safety. A home without pet birds is a must, he has a high prey drive for anything that flies (he even watches low flying planes intently!). In his younger days Pike could clear a low fence, but we haven't even seen him try this lately. He does like to dig for moles, so if you have a prize garden, Pike might not be the man for you :)! He is also still working hard on his recall, so a fenced yard is imperative. Once he has decided that he can't catch the bird, or he loses the scent of the mole, he decides he'll come back to you when he's called! An independent man at heart.
Pike is about 5 years old, UTD on vaccines, potty trained, knows his basic obedience commands and will win your heart the moment you see him! To put in an application for Pike please download our Paroled Pet application at www.prisonpetpartnership.org!
