Please read bio carefully to make sure you are a match for this boy: Meet Rex. He’s a stunning 2-year-old (soon to be 3) purebred Bassett Hound. When he’s not napping he loves to play with his toys, go on walks, fetch, and bask in the sunshine. Rex is great with other dogs that he encounters on walks or in a structured play environment. He has been near cats with little to no reaction. Rex is house/doggy door trained, is great on the leash, and enjoys his crate/“place”. As a bonus, he rarely barks, and doesn’t do much shedding, licking, or slobbering. Rex is unable to be placed in a home with small children. He needs a balanced, more predictable environment and humans who provide strong leadership. He is microchipped and up to date on shots/vaccines We will only adopt him into an adult only home. No small children or visiting grandkids. Rex is very healthy and has been neutered and has recent bloodwork. If you are interested in meeting this very special boy. Pogba is a 6-1/2 year old, 74 pound Basset Hound who joined us recently from Yuma and is now looking for his forever home. He is a fun, confident, happy-go-lucky guy, who has excellent leash manners. He is responsive to his name and is very trusting of his humans, frequently checking in and making eye contact. He knows basic commands, such as "sit," and is very gentle when accepting his reward. His favorite activity is having his ears rubbed! He's enjoying being spoiled by one of our amazing foster homes, and will be at the adoption center on Saturdays from 10am-4pm. You may also email Debbie@AzFriends.org, to arrange a weekday meet and greet!No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)!Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
