Story
Hello, My family: Rosebud (F, momma), Elmer (M, daddy), Zinnia (F), Roisin (F, Irish for Rose), and Magnolia (F). We were found on a country road with few houses and fewer cars passing by. To our blessing, a lady in a pickup truck came by shortly after we were dumped. It was also in our favor she knew who we were and that our owner had died. Our savior was a foster mom for this dog rescue. We are healthy, happy, and ready for our very own homes. We are shy at first with strangers, but that doesn't last long. We are social babies. Our foster mom has many other dogs/ puppies, cats/ kittens, and horses. We love the water. There is a little swimming pool and a creek. Rosebud (F) would like to go for walks or hiking. Elmer (M) Is special needs. When he exited the yard one day, he returned the next day. Something had attacked him. His left leg had repairs done outside and inside of his rear leg. No residual problems. He also had one toe on his left foot amputated. Zinnia (F), Roisin (F), and Magnolia (F) are the silliest, happiest girls. They love putting their face in the water and blowing bubbles—just clowns. We are all ready to be adopted. Please request an application today, alittlelonger2home@gmail.com, to begin our journey home to you. I am prepared for an adventure! I want to see the beach, lake, apple orchards, hiking trails... Zinnia Spayed Female Breed Basset Hound mix Color White and fawn Age 7 months old (As of 09/08/2024) Weight 20lbs Great with people, children, dogs/ puppies, cats/ kittens and horses Adoption donation $495

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE   Age:  3 months (as of 3/25/2025) Weight: 29 lbs (as of 4/10/2025) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Introducing the Cereal Litter – five adorable girls, Honeycomb, Pebbles, Chex, Cheerio, and Cocoa Puff; and two handsome little dudes, Apple Jack and Lucky Charm! These puppies were born on Christmas Day and are believed to be a Bassett Hound mix.  This aisle of cereals comes from an active foster home where they been living (since birth) with three adults, 4 other dogs, and their Momma Marigold Cereal.  Lucky Charm is an affectionate guy who is sweet, intelligent and even-tempered. He loves playing with the other pups in his litter and enjoys a chew toys and squeaky toys.  He loves running around, playing bitey-mouth, and chase with his siblings.  He’s also down to chill with some naps and cuddles with her people!  You can watch a movie or just watch him run in his dreams. Puppies are a lot of work and require a strong commitment to teaching them obedience, socializing with other dogs and people, playing with them and loving them to pieces. Being so young, Lucky Charm would love to find a family who has the time and patience to raise a puppy; He has so much to learn! He'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his human family. It’s lots of fun, too! If you're ready to make that awesome commitment to bring up Lucky Charm, then fill out an application today! Wet puppy kisses and warm, furry snuggles are awaiting! Medical Note:  A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange, and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not by breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2025, 9:29 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 5 years (as of 1/20/25) Weight: 55 lbs (as of 1/23/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Mama Dee! She is one unique and well-mannered girl--she has the body of a Bassett Hound with the coat of a German Shepherd--making her 110% beautiful.  She is cautious around new people, always shy at adoption events. Don’t let that fool you as once you get her home and let her explore…she warms up quickly. Before you know it, she will be following you around and whacking you with her tail (it wags constantly and its thick!). She is fully housetrained and can be left on her own with a run of the house or in a crate. She will not get up on the furniture unless invited for a cuddle. She also loves riding in the car. She has no problem waiting patiently and quietly inside the car while you run your errands. Don’t let her short legs fool you as she enjoys taking walks and good romp at the dog park. Those little legs are strong…she can do a 3 ft vertical jump into the car! She is a joy to walk and walks on a loose lease unless she sees a squirrel! She likes playing fetch in the house with her stuffed animals but will also settle down to rest if no one is paying attention to her. Mama Dee has lived in variety of foster homes over the past year including quiet and active ones. She has lived with children, dogs and cats all with good reports. While she has lived with kids we think she would do best in a mature household. She will bark at and avoid new visitors to her home. If they are counseled to ignore her and allow her to approach on her own terms, she will gradually warm up and ask for pets. This can take longer for males vs females but not more than a day or so. Think Mama Dee is your missing piece? Fill out an application to let her know! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this.
