Beau lost his family when his family was going through a divorce. When a foster was found, the foster went out to look for Beau. That is when they discovered he was living in a car with his Mom. She didn't want to give up Beau, but she knew her boy didn't deserve that lifestyle. Through tons of tears, hugs, and kisses, Beau's Mama surrendered him over to BRAT where she knew he would be safe. Even through all the changes Beau has gone through, he is still so loving, playful, and goofy. Neglected, skinny, toes nails embedded into his pads, forgotten. He was tossed aside like a piece of garbage. Who knows what his home life was like but the way he was discovered seems like he wasn't ever taken care of.Fast forward to today, you would have never guessed that this goofy, spunky, happy, soulful dog had ever been on the streets of El Paso. She is back with the foster who pulled her fro Dallas Animal Services in late 2022. The adopter reported instances of aggression and resource guarding, but she has been on her best behavior since arriving back in Dallas. We had her evaluated by a trainer, who reports that she is a dominant personality who needs consistent reinforcement of her place in the hierarchy. The foster reports that she is smart and knows basic commands. She can be pushy, but takes correction well. She is high energy, loves to play with the other dogs in the household and is very affectionate. She is leash trained, crate trained and housebroken, up to date on shots and heart worm negative. She will do well with an experienced owner and the rescue will include a session with the trainer to teach the new owner techniques for avoiding issues. This energetically sweet chubby puppy loves to be outside chasing scent trails with her human. When she is not busy chasing smells she loves to cuddle and be underfoot with her human. Does well with other dogs, has never met a stranger, and loves mealtime. She is good with basic commands, housetrained, and sleeps through the night. She has been thoroughly vetted and all vaccines updated and even had a dental! Lily is a sweet senior that joined us this week. She needs a vet check-up, shots and then we will go from there.
