Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
When you eat your Thanksgiving turkey- will you think of me?? I will be right next to you trying to get it... NOW will you think of me?? LOL, ok, I kid.... I do love turkey though :) I am Wishbone, and I am a bull terrier/beagle mixed boy with a story to tell! I am so smart like a bull terrier- somewhat stubborn, like a bull terrier, but I follow my NOSE like a beagle! I am super cute, only about 40# and I am pretty active. I love to have a hard playing buddy, no small animals (like kitties) as I have a prey drive- like a bull terrier.. you see where I am going with this, right?? I would love have an active family, kids older than grade school as I love a moving target and smaller ones don't quite understand that. I am a love bug, and once tired out I am the bestest cuddler! So, what are you waiting for? Look me up, take me on adventures when you apply to adopt me! ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!!!! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Chopper has landed in the OOTW program after being picked up as a stray in the Roland community. Although attempts were made to find his owners, all efforts failed even though he was microchipped. :( Chopper is a young lemon beagle mix who weighs about 34 pounds. We believe he is around 9 - 12 months old so we think he's about topped out on growth and weight, however, he might grow to be a bit bigger, but it wouldn't be much. He is what his foster mom considers the perfect size. Chopper loves EVERYONE! He is great with children and would make a perfect family pet. He is doggie door trained, house trained, leash trained (although he can pull at times if he's super excited), rides well in the car and sleeps on the foot of the bed or in his own bed. He enjoys time with his people, but is not demanding. He currently lives with 7 other siblings and a nine-year old child and gets along well with everyone. We cannot say enough about this sweetheart of a dog! He's truly perfect except he doesn't really care for a crate, but we are working on getting him trained on that as well. Chopper moved into a new foster home very recently and after 24 hours he was completely settled in and right in the swing of things. So we expect him to settle in to his new home very quickly.Chopper enjoys chew sticks which we recommend because he could be destructive if he's bored since he is more or less still a puppy. (He has not needed any chew sticks in his foster home because he has plenty of brothers and sisters to keep him occupied. Zero destructive behavior!) Chopper's perfect home would be one with another youngish dog who is playful, kids, and a fenced yard. He has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting this sweet boy, start with our Adoption Application. The link is just below.
