Story
Meet Sparkles This little nugget, Sparkles, is absolutely adorable. She is just 12 weeks old. We believe she will stay small since she only weighs 9 pounds at 12 weeks old. Sparkles is thought to be a beagle/hound mix. She has beautiful brindle markings. She is so much fun and energetic, like any good healthy puppy. Sparkles loves people, likes dogs and would probably be good with cats. A little training to make sure she doesn’t get overly playful with them might help, but she has no aggression, just happy puppy energy and enthusiasm. Sparkles is super sweet, she loves to snuggle, loves attention (what puppy doesn’t?) and she is curious. She loves exploring as the whole world just opened up to her. Her little face is so pretty, and her warm brown eyes just make you fall in love. If looking for a young puppy, Sparkles is a gem. If interested in Sparkles, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Update 8/19/24 - Kota had his surgery today and everything went great! We've posted a quick update photo here, but we'll get some new photos once he's all healed up. For now, it's the cone of shame, but we do think he looks super handsome even with his fun new fashion accessory! ;)-----Meet Kota! Kota is a 9 lbs Beagle/pug, who is currently living in a foster home. He is a little dog with a big personality! We don’t know his back story but this sweet boy was once loved. Kota knows how to sit and sit pretty for treats. He loves to go for car rides. Kota walks well on a leash with a harness. If you stop to talk to someone, he will sit or lay down and wait patiently. Kota likes other dogs as long as they are not barking in his face. He was interested in the shelter lobby cats until one hissed at him. Then he walked away. Due to his prey drive, he may chase a cat if it ran from him. Kota loves to be outside in the yard getting sniffs and chasing squirrels but he checks back in to get pets. Kota loves to snuggle. Kota is a medium energy dog that settles easily. MOAS is working on scheduling surgery for his cherry eyes. If you are interested in this sweet little guy, please contact the shelter to arrange a meet and greet today. Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles.
