Story
My adoption fee is waived from August 20-24 as part of the adult dog adoption event! We are doing in person adoptions ONLY this week. Please do not complete an online application. We are open Tues-Saturday 12:30-3 and anticipate large crowds for the event. Meet Ozzy, a 5-year-old puggle. His previous owner said he's the perfect mix of cuddly and playful, enjoying quiet time on the couch just as much as a good game of fetch. Since arriving at the shelter, Ozzy's shown his independent side, often preferring to explore the world on his own terms. He loves his walks and is fully house-trained, making him a great companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Ozzy's a bit nervous when new people try to give him too much attention, so he'd do best in a calm, patient home where he can warm up at his own pace. He previously lived with another dog, but here at the shelter, he hasn't shown much interest in making new dog friends. He might be happiest as the only pet in the house, where he can soak up all the love. Given that Ozzy doesn't have experience with kids or cats, he'd be a better fit for an adult-only household or one with older, dog-savvy kids teens and up. His last home was lost due to a divorce, so he's ready for a fresh start with someone who understands his needs and is ready to give him the stability he deserves. If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt! **OR** Click on the pink "Adopt me" button to submit an adoption inquiry. Watch your email for a response from us! Adopting through this process will take several days and highly desirable pets are likely to no longer be available. PLEASE NOTE: Adoption inquiries are not holds or reservations. Pets are adopted by the first person we talk with who is a good match for the pet's needs. Multiple inquiries are accepted for each pet. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.

Story
Dresden is one of the sweetest boys that you'll ever meet. He has been with our family since he was 10 weeks old and has been a very big part of it. He enjoys long walks but is also happy to be a couch potato with you. He doesn't lick at all but does do nose boops. He's been in a home with a large yard where he gets to wander, but also lived in a condo where he was also perfectly happy. He loves big, fluffy dog beds and squeaky toys. He can be anxious in new situations and is currently on Prozac (50mgs a day) to help manage this. We would love to keep him but, unfortunately, he is extremely anxious around small children (we have a 3-year-old and a 3-month-old) to the point that he is miserable. He would benefit from a home with adults and older children. He'd be an awesome companion for someone who lives alone as well. We love our boy and just want to see him happy and safe.

Story
Meet Sammy! This sweet and beautiful blue eyed girl came into the shelter pregnant. She had one baby, which Fetching Hearts Rescue had also rescued. Sammy had to stay back in Mississippi to complete her heartworm treatment. Now she is ready to go!!! Sammy enjoys hanging out with her humans and other doggie friends. She gets playful, but also will be a chill out girl. Sammy definitely would love a fenced yard, so she can explore the outside and use her nose. Bring her for walks and let her explore the world!!! Sammy is a very sweet girl with a lot of love to share. She’s a smart pup with a lot of potential, and loves people of all ages. Give Sammy the love she deserves and you’ll be the apple of her differently-colored eyes! Think Sammy would make a great family member? Apply now! She cannot wait to have her forever family to make lots of memories with.
