Story
We would like to tell a very important story about a very special older puppy named Gretchen.  Here is her story. Back in September of last year 2024, a litter of puppies was born in a very poor rural area of Tennessee.  There were 9 puppies born and over the course of 3 months all of them died except for Gretchen and her brother Gremlin.  Some people discovered the neglectful conditions that the puppies were living in and took home the last two who were alive.  They kept the puppies in a crate most of the time in the basement of their home.  A woman contacted me about these puppies asking for help.  I had no fosters for about 2 months  and they stayed with the new lady who took them off the neglectful property and at least kept them warm and dry and fed well. Eventually Critter Cavalry Rescue was able to take Gretchen and Gremlin from that place and put them in separate foster homes. We expected these poor brother and sister pups to be emotionally shut down and shy.  But instead these puppies were a tad shy for a few days, but quickly opened up with love and great confidence after living inside and free of the crate.  Gretchen has been in a foster home with a disabled lady who lives in an apartment.  Gretchen is taken out on a leash but not able to do a lot of running around freely. Recently over several weekends, Gretchen has attended a Puppy Yoga class at the local YMCA.  She was the most confidence, friendly and loving puppy in the room.  She danced amongst the yoga participants with great joy as she went from person to person to give kisses and make new friends.  She has been the most outgoing and delightfully happy girl that has run from person to person to give them kisses and say hello.  Everyone there were total strangers to her, but NOT for long.  She has a happy attitude all the time and wags her ¾ stubby tail with great enthusiasm and happiness.  She is so smart and Gretchen is so happy to be in the world.  This girl is so easy to be around and we see her as quite capable of living in a non-fenced yard but with a watchful eye and a human always outside with her.  She will be a great girl and has an eager RECALL response when you call her.  She just wants to be with HER humans.   She is living with 4 inside cats and does beautifully.  She  meets new dogs with only the sweetest friendship, a big smile and her stubby wagging tail.  She plays nicely and not rough in any way.  She will snuggle on the bed, the sofa or wherever she is invited.  She would be wonderful with children of any age.  She is not a steamroller type of young dog.  She is 8 months and weighs 25 pounds and should not exceed 30 pounds when fully grown and a mature adult.  Maybe less.  She is as tall as she will get but could add muscle as she matures. Her breed is just a mix.  Her personality is one of confidence and adventure.  She is not a skittish dog in any way and that is a miracle.  This girl was not raised with a good start in life but she has overcome all of it and risen above the poor and neglectful beginnings.  She is healthy and spayed and microchipped and had all her shots.  She is ready for a new forever life with someone she can make happy every day.  She also rides well in the car but could use a seatbelt so she doesn’t try to help you drive.   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
Nash is one of those perfect family size pups that will fit in perfectly for any family with an active lifestyle, maybe a few young children that love to run and play and then snuggle while watching some special TV programs.  He was born around October 1st and he and his 3 siblings came to Critter Cavalry Rescue from a not so good environment and outdoor pen that was too small.  His personality is one of curiosity and excitement to learn new things and play with new people.   He is loving being inside a great foster home where he can sit on the sofa, play in a specious backyard with two fun girls over 10 years of age and then hang out with the older Beagle girls that belong to the foster family.  These puppies are always smiling and just happy to be getting the love and care that Critter Cavalry Rescue fosters promise to give. He is 25 pounds at 6 months and he is learning about potty training and crate training and how to be a little puppy gentleman while being part of the inside family activities.  He is not a runner but a fenced yard could be so safe and beneficial.  He needs training on the leash and could be so much fun to take on family hikes, or personal walks for the enjoyment of exercise and the ritual of exploring the great outdoors.  A fun event that showed just how adaptable Nash can be was when he attended a YMCA Puppy Yoga class and what fun it was.  He wandered amongst the Yoga participants saying hello and then discovering himself in the floor to ceiling mirrors that were all over the room.  He was fascinated with seeing himself. These were the most people he had been around in his life at one time!  He passed with flying colors and loved every minute as the hour came to a close and it was time to go home. He and his siblings did so well and they were so cute!!!  Sweet Nash has dreams in life and they are simple.  All he wants is to love his own people and to be loved in return.  A lifetime of promises await this little guy who will one day be a 35 pound adult that will be a treasure in your diary of the life and love of a dog.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let us know where you live:  city and state.  We are in Tennessee and adopt locally and also transport to the Northeastern corridor of states and meet the adopting families.  ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Henry and Hank, a bonded pair of sweet beagles in search of their forever home. These brothers were found at a boat dock in a rural area with no animal shelter, and sadly, only they could be caught. While Henry could potentially thrive on his own, Hank truly needs his brother for comfort and support. Henry has a grade five heart murmur, at his most recent recheck of an echocardiogram, it did show a progression in his condition that does require him to be on daily medication to maintain. He is now on Enalapril 5mg & Pimobendan 3.75mg, both of which he gets twice a day. These meds roughly cost  $38 a month.  Future meds will be required, so adopters should be prepared. Hank, who is very shy and lacks confidence, has undergone hernia surgery and still has a small one, but it’s not a concern.  A fenced yard is a must. They absolutely love spending nice days outside together and get excited for their daily leisurely leash walks with their foster mom. Despite their health issues, Henry and Hank are incredibly sweet and deserving of a bright future as pampered pets. Can you give these loving beagles a home for their golden years? No adoption fee for an exceptional home.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 3, 2025, 9:21 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Scout is a happy, laid-back boy who loves everyone—people, dogs, and even cats! He blended seamlessly into our home from day one, getting along great with our four dogs and cat. He enjoys running around our fenced yard and comes back inside when he’s ready. We haven’t needed to crate him, as he’s been accident-free during the day with regular potty breaks (every 3-4 hours while we’re home). He’s even starting to go to the door to let us know when he needs to go out! At night, he sleeps peacefully on a dog bed in our room. He is still working on potty training and a belly band would be a good tool for him.  Scout is food-motivated and a great eater. He’s mostly independent but happily accepts cuddles and belly rubs when offered. When he gets excited, he lets out the cutest little howl—but only on special occasions! He’s a perfect mix of chill and quirky, with a little old-man spice if you try to pick him up. Scout would do best in a home without children, as he prefers a calm environment where he can relax on his own terms. If you’re looking for an easygoing, lovable pup with personality, Scout is your guy!     Medical Notes: Neutered Vaccinated Microchipped Heartworm Negative Maintained on monthly preventatives Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2025, 5:35 pm
