We think Byron is 11 years old. He belonged to a former Hound Rescue Board member who recently had to go into assisted living. He gets along very well with other dogs, loves people and is super playful for an 11 year old pup. He has the BEST bay and will do well in a home (not an apartment). He was recently diagnosed with Cushings disease which can be managed with medication.

Story
Brownie was found in a field near Giddens she had been covered in Poo and is HW positive. She is now all cleaned up and on HW medicine. She has a healthy appetite and no issues taking her meds. Brownie is house and crate trained. She originally did not show much interest in toys but now she plays with them on her own and loves chewing on her bend bone. She is starting to understand fetch but there are times when she chooses to do her own thing. She has come a long way with her foster; she now knows commands: sit, wait, come and understands the word no.She loves car rides and does great on a leash although she needs some work with pulling. She comes in to cuddle and for scratches but hesitates a little still this possibly will improve with time. Brownie has people anxiety still so she is still learning to trust people. Her foster tried to take her to petco but she was overwhelmed; meeting new people is challenging for her. She has some separation anxiety, which may improve with time. She likes meeting and playing with doggie friends and prefers to be with other dogs than left alone by herself. She is more playful when other dogs are present like playing chase and running around them. If left alone outside she tries to dig around the fence, so best kept inside if alone. Outside she has become quite vocal and tries to get the neighborhood dogs riled up. She would be best in a home with another dog to play with and keep her company.

Meet Shmiegel! This sweet 12 year old is house trained and an owner surrender. She is afraid of cats. She loves walks and does great on a leash. She gets along well with other dogs. Her foster says she is the cutest, coolest dog. She tucks herself in for bedtime and is calm around other people. At her foster's home, she has been getting zoomies, which is a great sign that she's happy and healthy. She loves plush toys and just had her teeth cleaned and the vet said she has beautiful teeth. She a bit of a picky eater (many beagles are) , but she tells you when she's hungry and doesn't care about fireworks or thunder.

Mesquite is a 10 month old hound. He was a stray in Lampasas. We think he is a beagle/treeing walker mix. As of July 31, he is placed with one of our wonderful fosters as he heals from his neuter surgery. His foster says he appears to be house-trained and is a VERY good boy who sleeps in a variety of positions. He gets along well with other dogs and ignores cats. He loves napping on laps and is very cuddly.

Chris Stapleton is a sweet tri-colored beagle.who recently had a dental cleaning as well as neuter surgery at the mid-July. He is house trained and loves head scratches. He enjoys doggy buddies, but much too curious about cats for their liking as cats at his foster's home avoid him. He is good with children. He is not food aggressive and can be hand fed. He has a cute smile and cute underbite. He has learned quickly and now is kennel and leash trained. He loves treats and toys and takes his blanket all over the house. He loves going on walks and all activities outdoors including fetch. His foster has a pool but he did not show interest in swimming. He will make a perfect family member for someone willing to give him love and attention.

Spring is a 10 month old hound. She was a stray in Lampasas. She arrived to Hound Rescue with her siblings Mesquite and Lampy. As of July 31, she was recently spayed. She's very bright and has made great progress in the first day she's been with her first foster. She's really curious, loves belly rubs and very affectionate. She's a picky eater as many beagles are. She hasn't figured out toys yet and has severe separation anxiety, which her foster is working with her on. She doesn't seem to know any basic commands. She is a very smart girl and gets more confident by the minute. Her separation anxiety concerns the foster as she cannot be left alone in a crate for even a short period of time as she with bark, howl, and try to bite her way out of the crate. She is very picky in eating but loves gravy and some rice. She does not resource guard, does great with nail filing, teeth brushing, and happily will wear clothes. She calmly met some others dogs who were much bigger than her and playful with cats. She does not react to loud noises, vacuum/hair dryer, thunderstorms or even the doorbell. A home with another dog would possibly be best for her due to her separation anxiety and fears. She seems calmer around other dogs. She has been attending a dog daycare and gets zoomies when she returns home. She loves long walks and has a lot of energy. She does great on a leash and loves her doggy and cat friends. She had a playdate with her brother Lampy recently and they had so much fun chasing each other in the yard. A home with another dog and that is able to take her on adventures would be ideal for her. She has warmed up to both her foster parents and showing her lovable, playful personality in full force. She is still wary of stranger people and reacts scared.
