Sophie is a loving ~40 lb, 3yr old beagle-pit mix; spayed, chipped, vaccinated, on flea/tick/heart worm preventatives. Knows “Stay”; poor recall. House/crate trained. Playful, food motivated. Pulls briefly on leash and jumps up to greet visitors but can improve. Car rides okay on empty stomach. Adores women, kids age 8 and up, seniors. Tall, deep voiced men r scary. Fireworks and loud noises scare her; is fine with thunder. Sophie is a very skilled escape artist so will require secure taller fencing or be walked. She loves other dogs of all sizes, but is fence aggressive (wants the other dog IN the fence with her)! She can be jealous if not getting the same treatment as another dog is getting, but only gives ugly looks. Slight barker, but has prey drive with cats, wildlife. Veterinary records, 2-mo Bravecto, Interceptor plus, and for free or reasonable payment agreed for a few things, heaps of items can go with her. Sophie has been a loved and pampered baby and deserves to be spoiled!

Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself.
