Story
My name is Ms. Marley and I am an affectionate, sweet, playful, smart, and quiet 1.5 year old gal. I am part Belgian Malinois and part Labrador retriever. I weigh about 62 lbs and I measure about 20 inches at my shoulder. There is a good chance that I will greatly benefit from a 'job' within my family home. After all, my breed background is to be a working dog. I am not likely to be a dog who sits in front of the fire and just relaxes most of the day.  When I was about four or five months old, I got a viral enteritis causing diarrhea. My then “owner” didn’t want to spend the money to get me treated so I was dropped off at the terrible shelter in Wuhan, China. The terrible shelter wouldn’t take me because they didn’t want to spend the money treating me either. A really nice lady volunteer took me to her vet to get me treated and brought me to her shelter. I have been at her shelter for about a year. I am a good girl who loves to play, being still a young pup. I get along very well with the other dogs and I also love my rescuer and her family. I so long to have a family I can call my own and to flourish with them. I'm told that I am very trainable. So far, I have some leash-walking skills and I have a nice relationship with my rescuer's young daughter. I don't know any cats so I'm not sure how I would be around them. I have been spayed, microchipped, and immunized. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2053001##

Story
Introducing lil Miss Amber!  Currently fostered in Chilliwack. Amber was found on the streets of Guadalajara, tied to the back of a vehicle. She was not only in great danger but in very weak condition. She was hungry, dehydrated and infested with ticks and fleas. We don't know how long she'd been tied up, but she was in a critical state when rescued. Having made a full recovery in the care of our rescue partners, Amber is ready for her happily ever after! This beautiful, sweet pup deserves a forever home. Her life was saved for a reason and we think that reason is the joy and blessings she will bring to her family. Amber is approximately 1 year old and weighs ~30 lbs. She is a beautiful Belgian Malinois mix. Amber is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. The vet confirmed that she had a previously fractured back leg which has healed well on its own. She does not have a limp or any impairment in mobility. In fact, Amber loves to run around, chase her toys, and go for walks. She now has the very best chance at a bright future! Amber is quite small for her breed mix, not expected to grow much larger than her current size. She's busy preparing for her family by learning all the things that pups need to know! House training, walking on a leash, and general good manners. She currently lives at a foster home in Chilliwack, where she's getting endless love and affection. She has settled in very well to her new life in Canada. She's totally comfortable on leash (though needs a bit more training to heel) and also rides well in the car. Surely, this young girl's heart is full of gratitude and she just wants a chance to give her puppy love to her beloved humans. She is a gentle, sweet, friendly girl who will be a wonderful family member.  Amber is great with other dogs, enjoys playing with canine pals and has no problem sharing her home with a doggy sibling. Also, she lived with a cat at her previous foster home and showed no reactivity or prey drive towards her kitty friend. For the most part, Amber seemed pretty indifferent to the cat.  Amber is a brilliant pup, smart as a whip, with a calm and sweet demeanour. She absolutely adores any toy she is offered. She listens intently when spoken to, as if she's understanding every single word! She responds very well to her name. Amber seems unaffected by the struggles and neglect of her past. She doesn't hold onto any trauma, she would much rather forget and move on with her life with a loving family/person. VETTING: Fully vaccinated Neutered/Spayed Dewormed SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma) Flea/tick/heartworm prevention Microchipped No known medical issues or injuries aside from the healed leg fracture. PLEASE NOTE: Amber is currently fostered in the lower mainland. Meet and greets can be arranged with applicants! ##2192525##

Story
Bella is a one and a half year old Belgian Malinois cross weighing approximately 40 lbs. She was abandoned and scared living on a derelict old couch on the street – far too young to have to fend for herself, but she did. Bella is very smart, and smart enough sadly to know not to rush up to strangers, who likely were not always kind. In general she takes her time to assess without a great amount of confidence, but does recover to engage. Bella has good skills with other dogs and might enjoy a home with another dog. When tested with cats, she was nervous but kind and patient allowing them to assess her. Bella’s brain and young age mean she’d love a home that would enrich her through both mental and physical exercise, including playtime. She’s a joy to watch playing with other dogs, bowing down from her long legs. We think Bella would like a home with a yard. Bella is healthy, spayed and vaccinated. She is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island). If you think you might be the lucky home for her, and have a real couch that she might enjoy, write us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Story
Name: Annie OakleyBreed: German Shepherd mixAge: 4 yrsGender: feWgt/Hgt: 55 lbs / 22 inches Highlights: playful, tripaw, joyful, very affectionate, independent, low exercise needs - no walking needed Energy level: low Relations: great with dogs once comfortable with them, good with kids, not good with cats  Hi everyone, my name is Annie Oakley. I am a beautiful and very happy girl, but that hasn't always been true for me. I used to live in the Middle East where at the very tender age of eight months I became pregnant. I was much too young to become a mother and all my puppies died. In addition, my rear leg had been badly damaged, probably from being hit by a car. In the country I came from, dogs are considered vermin and people often deliberately hit us with their cars in attempts to kill us. My wounds became badly infected and I was in terrible pain by the time I was finally rescued. By the time I was taken to a veterinarian, my leg needed to be amputated. Despite this I am very mobile and can easily climb stairs. I can't go on long hikes but normal length walks are perfect for me.  I am a very loving and affectionate girl who has a real love of life. I enjoy the company of other dogs, once I trust them. I currently live happily with several dogs of all sizes. It can take a few visits for me to feel safe with other dogs for me to let my guard down with other dogs. Given this, it could potentially be difficult for a prospective adopter to take the necessary time I require to become familiar with their dog-- so a home without another dog is best for me. I am happy being the only dog in the home as my true love is people. I have the cutest habit of splaying my front legs out wide when I want you to play with me. And if you pet me and stop and I want some more, I will wrap my front legs around yours to "trap" you and keep you with me. Adorable, right?! I am a really easy dog to care for, and to love. I very much enjoy being outside, so a fenced yard is important to me. In fact, I don't even need or want to go on walks. Because of my missing rear leg, I often find walking too strenuous and much prefer hanging out with my person inside the home or outside in the yard. A covered deck for me to hang out on, watching birds and squirrels, is essential for me. While I am a joyful soul, I am not at all hyper or high energy. At home I am very calm and relaxed. Layin on my bed chewing on a marrow bone or a chew stick is one of my favourite pasttimes! There is no way you could be unhappy with me around.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $600 plus applicable taxes* Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##951485##

Story
Good day!  My name is Marlin (aka Martin) and I'd love to tell you a bit about me!  I'm an older guy (born in May 2007), a mix of german shepherd/canaan breeds, and I've never lived in a proper stable home environment.  I'm quite an energetic dog and my favourite place to be at the shelter is outdoors.  I can be somewhat selective with the dog friends I make, and while I can play nicely with them, I think I'd prefer to be the only resident dog in my forever home.  I need a fair amount of exercise, so will be most pleased with a very active family. As you can see, I am a very smiley, happy boy.  https://youtu.be/Ua0EzZr-qNcAfter being confiscated from a neglectful home, I went to a local shelter when I was around 1 year old. I have been at the shelter since then and it is about time I find a home!  Having never received consistent, dedicated training from humans, I need a fairly experienced handler/owner who knows about & has experience with training. Since I have never lived in a home before, having a yard would be good, so I can acclimate to living inside better, by having plenty of outdoor time, where I feel most comfortable right now. I hope you are willing to give me time to understand a house is a great place to be.I have had basic training: leash walking with a halti, heel, sit, down, bed/place, in addition to exposure to other dogs. Continued training and review of what I know would be good. I'm a smart pupper, so could learn tricks too https://youtu.be/Lr8EJ2Zkc1I. Here I am calm at the vet's office: https://youtu.be/udM_Cc-MOgk. Energy Level: high Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: yes, basic training commands and leash walkingLeash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No, as I live in a shelter environ. Please be prepared to help me learn! My adoption fee is $700.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Email: woofywishes@gmail.com TORBO (TRIPOD) was rescued from the Middle East and now he is in Vancouver BC and he's looking for his forever home. It is ideal for Torbo to go to a home where he can have a doggie sibling.Torbo - Shepherd mix - 19 kg - 1.5 yr old - Male - Neutered - Good with dogs - Not cat tested, but he will be ok with proper intro - Good with people of all ages - Crate trained - House trained - Playful & loving - Barks to give warning - Not a flight risk - No aggression - Good on leash - Healthy - He was found with a severed leg when he was a puppy on the street, likely for witchcraft purposes.Torbo is the sweetest friendliest and happiest dog ever. His tail is ALWAYS wagging. He is such a people lover! Going on walks he wants everyone to pet him, and he goes up to everyone to say hi on walks, he gets offended if people don’t want to pet him. He loves attention and human kisses. Turbo is also a super well-balanced dog - he can be super playful and also be super chill and calm. He doesn’t bark much, does not have a huge prey drive, able to stay alone for a bit in a crate with a chew toy. He is perfectly potty trained, not a single accident in the house. He sleeps the whole night in his crate with no waking up. He has medium energy and his 3 legs can tire after a walk, so he isn’t exactly the ideal rough terrain hiking buddy.
