Story
Cairo is a sweet and affectionate 2-year-old Belgian Malinois looking for her forever home! She’s a bit cautious with strangers at first but warms up quickly once she feels comfortable. Cairo enjoys being around people and loves offering sweet eye contact when she’s settled in. She’s playful and loves toys, especially balls, and walks well on a leash. Cairo is best suited to a home with kids 17+ and would thrive with an active owner who understands her breed’s needs. If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion, Cairo might be the perfect fit for you!If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#belgianmalinois #belgianrescue #belgianmalinoisrescue #belgianmalinoisdog #pup #adoptableshelterdogs #adoptables #longislandpetparents #nyc #newyorkrescuedogs #longislandrescues #longislandanimalshelter #animalshelter #municipality #municpalshelter #dogsoftheworld #dogsoflongisland #dogs #dog #puppy #pups #adoptadog #adoptapuppy

Story
Meet Token~ With having his world turned up side down, Token is doing his best. First being dumped and ending up on the streets, then being brought to a big noisy shelter by animal control, this sweet boy deserves better! In the shelter he was nervous and skittish, never mean or aggressive. He is now fostered in a home, and has already loosed up! He is sweet and calm, and really loves his people! Token seems pretty easy going and interested in doing whatever his humans are doing. At this point, he does not seem to be a high energy dog at all, and actually seems to have a very average energy level..not the energy level said to be of other Malinios breed dogs. Only a week out of the shelter, Token is still unsure of things and seems to lack confidence. We have noticed him do some resource guarding. So, we are looking for an adult only home for Token. His future adopters need to have some training/experience with these kinds of issues. Token is very smart, and seems to want to please. He is also very food motivated which is good! Helping Token build up his confidence, and getting him where he needs to be mentally and behaviorally will be something so very rewarding! He is definitely worth the effort, as he is a really good boy! Token is very smart, and is already potty trained. He sits, lays, and gives paw on command. Token is fine with other dogs, but could probably care less if lived with any! *The adoption fee is $450.00 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, leash and collar, ProHeart 12 (adults), and the mandatory CT HB 5368 exam. BREED IDENTIFICATION: Please understand that many rescue dogs are mixes of multiple breeds. Petfinder allows us to choose up to two breeds per dog. While the shelters and our rescue do our best in accurately identifying breeds, breed identification is not guaranteed. If there is a certain breed that you do not want, it is very important that you share this with our rescue when applying. When adopting a puppy, breed uncertainty plays a big part in the size/look of the dog as an adult. Please know that any puppy can be a wonderful dog, regardless of preconceived notions of certain breeds, but it is very important that the adopter has the dedication and patience to raise the puppy with boundaries, consistency, structure, & love. The more effort you give towards training & time you allow for exercise, your puppy will grow to be a HUGE source of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, TOTAL LOYALTY, HAPPINESS, COMFORT & COMPANIONSHIP! ABOUT OUR RESCUE: We are a small rescue run by volunteers & focused on finding the right match for both our dogs & for you. If you are interested in adopting through our rescue, you first will need to complete an adoption application & be approved as a potential adopter before meeting any of our pups. No need to be intimidated by our application as it allows us to get to know you & your lifestyle. Of course, the more you can share the better! Please also note, while a fenced yard is fantastic, it is not required by our rescue, however, it may be required for a certain dog occasionally. Once adoption applicants are approved to become potential adopters, we offer private appointments where you can meet one or several dogs at the discretion of the rescue. We offer a unique & pleasant experience focused on finding the perfect match. It is extremely important to us that everyone is treated with respect & that NO ONE IS LEFT HANGING. WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU WITHIN 2 TO 3 DAYS of application submission. If there is a dog you are eager to meet, please TEXT US DIRECTLY at 203-241-2351 so that we can check the status of your application and move it forward immediately. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find your new best friend. *All adult dogs can be cat tested by request. HOME/RENTER INSURANCE: SOME PROVIDERS HAVE VERY STRICT POLICIES REGARDING WHICH TYPE OF DOG BREE

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Autumn (TX) is a female Belgian Malinois mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Autumn is 1 year old at the time of intake in Sept 2023.  Autumn is good with people and other dogs.  Autumn is a young mother with 3 puppies, she did not have a good life on a chain and neglected. Autumn is a smart, spunky, happy girl who has shown herself to be incredibly loyal to her people. She still has a lot of puppy energy and will need an owner who understands her need to work and is willing to provide her with the physical and mental exercise she needs. Autumn would love a job! She is highly trainable and would excel at anything from agility to nose work. She would also like a doggie friend that can match her energy and play style. Autumn is potty trained and has never had an accident inside. She is good in her crate provided she is given proper exercise. She is also uncharacteristically sweet and snuggly for her breed. She always wants to be where you are and is always curious about what you are doing. She is such a sweet, social girl. . If you would like to give sweet Autumn a forever home, please apply online to adopt Autumn (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.   RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 13, 2024, 12:24 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Barry (TX) is a male Belgium shepherd Malinois mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Barry is 4 months old at the time of intake early May 2023. Barry is a lovely, medium sized 11 month old puppy who loves to be with his people and cuddle. He is an excellent companion to his humans! Barry can and should spend long periods of time napping but will happily engage in fun activities at the right times. Barry loves starting his day with a game of fetch in the morning, go on walks throughout the day, and have playtime with his interactive toys. Barry loves to turn in early in his cozy quiet area to get some solid zzz's.. only to wake up refreshed and ready to start his day again. Barry is a very smart dog who can learn very quickly from a skilled trainer who can help him fit into his forever home. Barry spent time in a shelter, so he does startle easily in some situations without the right attention and training. He is doing great with his learning to socialize with other dogs and is already showing responses to the appropriate training that all young puppies need. Barry would be a great fit for a family with older kids or no children. If you think Barry would be a wonderful addition to your family, p lease  apply online to adopt Barry (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoptionGiven technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here.
