Story
Hi there. My name is Symphony and here is a little info about me: Height: 43 cm Size: Large RESCUE STORY The time we saw Symphony we knew that she was another victim of abandonment. It is not unusual for a dog taken as a puppy to be abandoned when it grows up. She was running from one side to the other in heavy traffic. If she wouldn’t die from starving, she was going to die from a car accident for sure. So we took her to the vet to see if she had a family who was looking for their dog. But we could not find a microchip on her. So our journey with Symphony started. Character Symphony is very social and just looooves human attention. He greets everyone who comes to her section in the shelter with enthusiastic jumps and little happy circles. Outside she is curious, but pays attention to the human. Also is happy to stop for a play with a toy or some cuddles. She is always ready to show her belly with a single touch. Besides her cheerful character, she turns out to be really smart. Symphony would fit best with an active family. She can live with other friendly dogs. We don’t know how she is around cats but due to her curiosity and eagerness to play, you should be ready for training if you have a cat(s). She probably would love to live with children if her enthusiastic character is taken into consideration. Energy Level: Active Prey drive: None observed Fears: None observed Training: She knows how to walk with a leash but still needs training. Health notes: No health issues.

Story
🐾 Hello! I’m Sugar! 🐾 I’m a 3-year-old male Malinois mix with a sleek black coat. Weighing in at 35 kg, I’m a big, cool, and smart pup looking for my forever home! 🐶 My Story: I was rescued from a kill shelter just in time, and now I’m ready to find a loving family. I stayed in a foster home for a year, where I was friendly and had a good relationship with my foster mom. 🏡 My Personality: • I’m quite shy around strangers, but give me 3 days to a week, and I’ll become friendly. 🤗 • I like to greet other dogs, but I don’t always play with them. 🐕 • I’m generally friendly towards dogs my size or smaller. 🐾 • I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d react. 🐱 • I enjoy outdoor activities but also love to rest quietly afterward. 🌳 have plenty of walking experience and follow people well without pulling on the leash. 🚶‍♂️ • I don’t guard my food against people or other dogs. 🥣 • I’m a quiet boy and hardly ever bark. 🐾 • I’m calm when put in a kennel. 🏠 • I generally only do my business outside. 🚽 Important to Know: • It takes time for me to build a relationship with strangers, usually 1 to 2 weeks. 🕒 • I’m not food-motivated and don’t take snacks from strangers. 🍪 • I might seem unmannered or too aggressive with other dogs because I think I’m a small dog and try to play with them. 🐶 • Other dogs might be intimidated by my behavior because of my size. 🐕 Fun Fact: I’m very cool and smart, showing all the characteristics of a Malinois.🦴 If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and affectionate companion, I’m your guy! Let’s make some wonderful memories together. 🏡❤️ Love, Sugar 🐾🖤

Story
Please meet Sesame!!Sesame is an approximately 4-5 month old, female spayed, Belgian Malinois mix.She came into the shelter a couple of weeks ago and now she is ready for her home. She has been vaccinated, sterlized and microchipped since being with us here at the shelter.Belgian Malinois are a herding breed of dog and do best when they have lots of work to do. They are highly intelligent, alert, sensitive and highly trainable. They have a strong guarding instinct making them protective of their family and property. She seems to have a pretty easy going temperment, but as a puppy we would highly recommend that her new owners take her for some puppy obedience classes. If you are interested in adopting Sesame, please give us a call between the hours of 10:30am-6:30pm, at 416-338-7297 (PAWS) at the North Shelter, and we would be happy give you more information and explain the current adoption process. Thanks so much for looking.

Story
Hawk is a 1 year old male German Shepherd. He was found stray and came to us from our local shelter after no one came for him for 4 months. Hawk is a young guy full of curiosity, spirit, and life! He loves to play fetch, meet other dogs, go for walks, meet new people, and play with toys. We don't think Hawk has had a ton of new experiences in his short life, but he has a great attitude and is full of curiosity. Any new adventure, Hawk is up for it! Hawk is a young German Shepherd who doesn't seem to have had much training or direction in his short life. At the shelter he displayed a lot of inappropriate behaviours such as jumping up, mouthing, grabbing clothing and just being pushy in general. However, Hawk learns very quickly and with a confident handler (and maybe some treats!), he quickly switches his attitude and offers appropriate behaviours such as sits and eye contact for treats. He will also sit for toys and is an excellent fetch partner, trading his ball for another ball or treats, and sitting politely till it's thrown. We feel like he simply was not taught what behaviours are appropriate and which ones aren't in his previous home. Hawk is well behaved with other dogs. He is respectful, neutral and friendly with older slower dogs, and playful with younger bouncier dogs. He does like to chase zoomy dogs and tries to catch them, so he does need some intervention to prevent big adrenalized play with other zoomy dogs. He has a high prey drive for chickens and other small outdoor animals, and may not be a good fit for a home with cats. Hawk loves everybody that he meets! He loves leaning on people for pets, jumping up, and playing with them, and is excited to meet new people. At this time, we feel like Hawk would do best with older children while he is still learning that jumping up and mouthing is not appropriate. He has been on a trip to a patio and loved everyone he met, but still needs some work on impulse control and relaxing in busy environments - Hawk just wanted to greet and play with everyone around him! Hawk has met young children and is very friendly with them, but he is a big pup and does lean against people and move quickly, so he would do best with older children. He has a tendency to accidentally lean on, push, and step on people and could easily intimidate or knock over small children accidentally. Hawk is currently being fostered in an apartment building with another dog. He goes into his crate following kibble, and happy to quietly nap in his crate. He is fine in the elevator, but stairs seem unfamiliar and overstimulating for him. He's still learning! Hawk settles very easily, so he is well behaved and quiet in a smaller apartment, although he does need long walks and training sessions to fulfil him in between his rest time. First Impression Summary: -1 year old male German Shepherd -Good with dogs -Unknown with cats -Loves strangers/all people -Older kids -Excellent in crate -Good in car -Pulls heavily on leash, needs work -Affectionate/overstimulated -Loves training, training games, and working for food/toys. Very smart -Loves fetch and chew toys -Loves adventures -Pushy, bold, curious, happy personality -Sensitive - will try to push through door, but yelp if his head gets stuck -Good getting bathed and brushed, but will yelp if brush gets caught. Energy: high Hawk is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and tested negative on his 4DX snap test for mosquito/tick borne illnesses.
