Story
Meet Wimberly! Wimberly is a 3-year-old, 50-lb Belgian Shepherd mix with a gentle heart and a love for his people. His superpowers include being incredibly gentle, getting along great with other dogs and humans, and knowing exactly how to get you to play—by dropping his favorite toy right in front of you! He hasn’t been tested with kids yet, but according to the shelter he was rescued from, he’s supposed to be great with them. Wimberly absolutely loves his walks and his Kong toy, and while he enjoys treats, he’ll almost always choose a toy over a snack. He’s already potty trained and knows how to sit, but he could use a little training to learn more commands. With a bit of guidance, he’ll be an amazing companion in any home that wants to help him continue learning. Some of his favorite things include playtime with his humans, long walks, and any toy he can carry around. If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic pup who will adore your attention and be your most loyal friend, Wimberly might be the perfect match! Wimberly is currently being fostered in Edison, NJ. His adoption fee is $425. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Hi, my dogs name is Benji. He turned 3 in October of 24, I’ve had him since he was 2 months old. He is generally a pretty friendly dog but recently he has begun to show aggression to other dogs on and off the leash and it’s becoming to much to handle. He’s a really smart dog and loves all the attention and love anyone would give him. He’s around 75 pounds putting him on the larger side but he is just pretty tall and skinny.

Story
Meet Katie! Katie is approximately 2 years old and is 38 pounds. We are not sure exactly what she is mixed with but possibly an Belgian Shepherd or a German Shepherd and maybe even Kelpie. She is full grown, petite and one of the sweetest dogs ever! She loves to play with a variety of toys and chew bones. Katie is very sweet and gentle with humans and dogs of all ages and sizes. Katie is crate trained, potty trained and walks extremely well on the leash. Interested in becoming a forever home for Katie? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Katie. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Katie the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Kona! Kona is a 7 year old neutered German Shepard who is up to date on all his shots and vet checks, and has been taken the very best care of.    He was adopted as a rescue three and a half years ago and has lived with his family in a home with a fenced in yard.  He is very loyal, loving, and gentle with his current owner. He has some initial social anxiety, but is calmed by his people’s reassurance, so his best placement would be with a confident owner with previous German Shepard familiarity and experience. After being initially introduced, he loves people and just wants to feel safe and seen, leaning in and giving kisses once he knows he is loved. He has lived in a home as the only dog and would prefer to be the only one to get all of your love and affection. He is comfortable with adults and older children, but gets a little excitable around dogs in social settings and would need to be cat tested.   His previous owner has worked with him constantly to build his confidence, and he loves to work for positive praise, yummy treats,  and belly rubs. He is loyal beyond belief and is extremely smart and able to learn anything that his owner is committed to teaching. The sky is the limit when it comes to training this boy.   Kona is crate-trained and housebroken. He loves to explore his yard and enjoys company while he is outside and running around. He loves his people and enjoys snuggling on the couch with them and playing with his toys. Kona is a very special pup that needs a special family with lots of love and patience to help him feel safe and loved.  He gives 100% of all that love back! Kona is in search of his new home due to an unfortunate split of his current owners.  If you are looking for an awesome German Shepard with all the quirky qualities that come along with it, Kona is your dream boy! If you show him love, patience and kindness he will reward you with loyalty and companionship that you’ve never experienced! Please apply to adopt Kona at Rescueridge.com. If your application is a possible match a volunteer will contact you.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 20, 2025, 8:42 pm
