Story
NAME: Bernstein Bear SEX : male Color/Pattern: Tan black brown saddle agouti Breed: German and Belgian shepherd husky mix Weight: ~70lbs? Age at intake: 3yrs BDAY actual: Jan 16, 2022 Intake date : Jan 8, 2025 Found date: owner surrender Coat length: med Description Bernstein Bear is a submissive, sweet and easy going, tall, lanky German Shepherd mix. Personality Bernstein is handsome, slender and graceful. He can be shy and timid at first but he is just being cautious in new situations. He loves being outside and doesn't mind the cold, but also relishes some comfy bedding in his crate. Once he warms up, he becomes everyone's friend and shows how trusting his true personality is when he feels safe and secure. He is so good, well behaved, gentle, nice, and obedient. He likes to give hugs but knows not to jump up on you. He is tall so if he stands on his back legs you dont have to bend over much! Bernstein is great with other dogs and integrates smoothly into a household with other pets. Background Bear was scheduled to be dropped off at Houston's BARC kill shelter on Thursday, Jan 9 by his owner. His owner desperately did not want to take him there, so they reached out to GNAR for help. She had to move in with her brother that week, but he wouldn't allow her to bring Bear with her because he claimed he can’t be around dogs due to severe allergies. GNAR found a spot for him in a group foster home just in time. Bear made a huge splash on social media rallying to save him amongst social media German Shepherd rescue groups. Story
Bonnie is a sweet approximately 1 year old Belgian Malinois mix who was rescued from a high kill Animal Shelter of Texas, where she spent 6 months, cooped up. She was only 9 months when she was rescued. Her two siblings sadly did not make it out of the shelter alive. Bonnie is a very sweet and highly energetic young girl that is kennel trained. She currently lives with three other dogs and 4 cats, but does test her boundaries when it comes to the cats. She is still young, so she is very active, loves toys and is very fast. Check out her video here : https://vimeo.com/1072010839?share=copy She loves kids, but might do best in a home with children that are slightly older than toddlers as she may knock them over. She is also highly trainable as she is a quick learner and food motivated. A home with a fully fenced yard would be mandatory for her, as well as a family who can dedicate time, patience and love. She needs to be fed separately from other dogs as she was starved as a puppy and then had to fend for her food in the shelter before her kennel mates took them away. Bonnie is currently about 40 pounds. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She is heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Her adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness, leash, and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters. Sweet Bonnie is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home. To meet this gorgeous girl via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, and the ones who are taken to our shelters, where they are euthanized if they are not rescued or adopted. By adopting one of our pups, you are actually saving two lives - the one they adopt, the one who takes their space in the foster home.

Story
Buck is a very sweet German Shepherd whose previous owners went through hardship and had to surrender him to rescue. He is a typical GSD who just wants to be with you. He is completely velcro and very loving. Buck is fine around dogs on walks, but is dog selective if he has to hang out with them, and is not good around cats. He loves people and will rollover for pets when he meets a new animal lover. He is good with kids but we do not adopt out our adult shepherds to homes with young kids. Buck's ideal home will be an only pet, in a kid-free home. Previous German shepherd experience is mandatory to adopt our GSDs. Buck is 5 year old, around 75 lb and current on vaccination, neutered, and microchipped, He is heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Buck loves to be petted and is very intelligent. He really likes to snuggle by your side, and will not thrive without that privilege. Being a shepherd, he will need an active home where he can get his exercise to burn her energy. Buck is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada. Yards must be fully and adequately fenced, to be considered for our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com so you could be approved to meet this gorgeous pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chats.

Story
Gorgeous Emery is a 3.5 yr old German Shepherd girl who lives with 4 cats, and is good with dogs, and kids of all ages. She loves people, and thrives on affection. Emery is highly intelligent, and extremely affectionate big baby, who is also housebroken, and easily trainable. However, she got surrendered to our rescue as her former owner works two jobs and is out for 12-14 hours everyday, leaving Emery to fend for herself all day alone. She would try to play with the kitties but they did not care. So, Emery would sit by the window all day and wait for her human. As expected, the poor girl gets super excited when her current foster comes home after being alone in a room for 14 hours, and jumps on her, runs to the kitties to be smacked across her face, and wants to go out. That's why we are looking for a German shepherd experienced home where she will have company most of the day, and will not have to live alone all day again. Emery loves humans and will snuggle with them at any given chance. She will love to be an only dog as she really is more about humans than her furry companions. She is a star at the pet hotel and vet clinics. She used to love going to dog parks but she would get scared of the bigger dogs, and therefore the trips stopped. We prefer that she goes to a home with no other dog. Emery's former owner did not have the time or funds to train her. She did not get walked, so she may pull on the leash at this time. But being highly intelligent, and trainable, she can be taught not to do so pretty fast. Emery has been suffering from dry eye syndrome in one eye for the past two year, which her owner's vet had incorrectly misdiagnosed as conjunctivitis and then allergy. It was not until she went to our rescue vet and did a few tests, that it was correctly diagnosed and she started getting medication to produce tears again. Adopters need to keep her on this medicine until she is healed. Emery loves bellyrubs, and cuddles. She has zoomies every now and then, because she gets so happy when her foster mom come home from work. Emeery gets very Emery is being fostered in Houston, TX but can be transported to many states in the USA and Canada. German shepherd experience is mandatory to adopt our GSDs. Emery currently weighs 93 lbs as she is getting no exercise in her current situation. She gained 20 lb in the last two years alone and we need a home where she can get her walks and proper diet to lose the excessive weight. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped. and heartworm negative. She is kept on heartworm and flea preventative. To meet this adorable pup, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards must be fully and adequately fenced, to be considered for our pups.
