Story
NAME: Bernstein Bear SEX : male Color/Pattern: Tan black brown saddle agouti Breed: German and Belgian shepherd husky mix Weight: ~70lbs? Age at intake: 3yrs BDAY actual: Jan 16, 2022 Intake date : Jan 8, 2025 Found date: owner surrender Coat length: med Description Bernstein Bear is a submissive, sweet and easy going, tall, lanky German Shepherd mix. Personality Bernstein is handsome, slender and graceful. He can be shy and timid at first but he is just being cautious in new situations. He loves being outside and doesn't mind the cold, but also relishes some comfy bedding in his crate. Once he warms up, he becomes everyone's friend and shows how trusting his true personality is when he feels safe and secure. He is so good, well behaved, gentle, nice, and obedient. He likes to give hugs but knows not to jump up on you. He is tall so if he stands on his back legs you dont have to bend over much! Bernstein is great with other dogs and integrates smoothly into a household with other pets. Background Bear was scheduled to be dropped off at Houston's BARC kill shelter on Thursday, Jan 9 by his owner. His owner desperately did not want to take him there, so they reached out to GNAR for help. She had to move in with her brother that week, but he wouldn't allow her to bring Bear with her because he claimed he can’t be around dogs due to severe allergies. GNAR found a spot for him in a group foster home just in time. Bear made a huge splash on social media rallying to save him amongst social media German Shepherd rescue groups. Story
Layla is a playful, affectionate, and exceptionally sweet dog who loves spending time with her humans. She’s always eager to please and has a lively, fun-loving personality, but she also enjoys quiet moments of snuggling. Layla is crate trained and a gentle giant who loves meeting new friends, big or small. She’s great with families, especially those who appreciate her energetic side. Layla is healthy, spayed, and house trained. Layla and Luna have shared a deep bond for over 4 years, offering each other comfort and support. Ideally, they should be rehomed together, as they rely on one another for security. Layla enjoys outdoor play/fetching, running in the yard, and staying active. She thrives in a loving, active home and enjoys walks and family activities. While she’s playful, she’s also content to curl up and relax when the day winds down. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion, Layla (and Luna) would be the perfect fit! Contact us for more info.

Story
Super sweet and mellow puppy Elmo. was found in a rural Texas field with his friend Charlie, from where they were rescued. While Charlie has now found his own wonderful home, Elmo is still looking for his perfect forever parents. Elmo is a kisser and a cuddler. He is a very sweet, calm, extremely loving cute baby, who enjoys hanging out with his foster parents, or play with his new bestie Tyson. He is also very obedient, housebroken, extremely intelligent, and gorgeous. He doesn't have any guarding tendency. He will do great in a home, with another dog. He currently lives with another doggie and kittie brother and is a perfect pup. Elmo is currently 9 months old, 53 lb and going to be a medium-large size shepsky pup. He has all his shots, and is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. He is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada for the right home. Yards must be fully fenced to adopt our pups. To meet this adorable pup in person or via video chat, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com

Story
Woofy is an absolute sweetheart who adores belly rubs and all the pets. While he's generally a loving companion, he will growl if he's uncomfortable to let you know. He has a special fondness for his stuffies, especially his cuddly puppy. Woofy only barks when he sees something or someone unfamiliar or when he needs to go potty. He loves drinking lots of water and prefers not to be petted while eating. Despite being a tripawd, he gets around very well and benefits from minor daily exercise to keep his legs strong. He doesn’t like to be jumped on by other dogs and loves short walks and laying down next to his people. Currently, we are working on potty training. Woofy doesn't need to be kenneled as he doesn't destroy things when left out, but due to his potty training status, he does need to stay in a kennel when left alone. He thrives in the company of other dogs, which seems to boost his spirits, although he is not good with cats. Woofy would flourish in a loving home where he can either be with other gentle dogs or be the sole dog. He is great with senior dogs and will make a wonderful addition to a kind and caring family. Woofy has never known what it's like to live inside for his entire 9.5 years of life, so he is slowly adjusting to inside dog life. Woofy has all his shots, and is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. German shepherd experience is mandatory to adopt our shepherds. Woofy is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada for the right home. To meet this adorable pup, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com

Story
Buck is a very sweet German Shepherd whose previous owners went through hardship and had to surrender him to rescue. He is a typical GSD who just wants to be with you. He is completely velcro and very loving. Buck is fine around dogs on walks, but is dog selective if he has to hang out with them, and is not good around cats. He loves people and will rollover for pets when he meets a new animal lover. He is good with kids but we do not adopt out our adult shepherds to homes with young kids. Buck's ideal home will be an only pet, in a kid-free home. Previous German shepherd experience is mandatory to adopt our GSDs. Buck is 5 year old, around 75 lb and current on vaccination, neutered, and microchipped, He is heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Buck loves to be petted and is very intelligent. He really likes to snuggle by your side, and will not thrive without that privilege. Being a shepherd, he will need an active home where he can get his exercise to burn her energy. Buck is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada. Yards must be fully and adequately fenced, to be considered for our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com so you could be approved to meet this gorgeous pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chats.
