Story
I'm a Bernadoodle mix. I'm a big girl and about as beautiful as can be. I'm destined to be intelligent, loyal and affectionate. I'll be a large, majestic dog and I'll be versatile and social, well-suited for families with children and other pets. I was purchased from a breeder as a puppy. My family had some health issues and a new baby and I was just too big for their home. So, here I am. Looking for a second chance at a good life. Are you the one for me? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2334661##

Story
Meet Miss Jalapeno! This sweet and loving pup is as cuddly as she is playful. She enjoys snuggling, playing with the young child and other dogs in her foster home, and even has a little mischievous side—like swiping stuffed animals from the 5-year-old girl! Though Miss Jalapeno had a rough start and was hit by a car, she’s one of the happiest pups you’ll meet. She sustained injuries to her hind end, but she’s still able to live an active and joyful life. The rescue is waiting for a specialist to review her x-rays, but don’t let that deter you—she’s a resilient little girl. Given that we’re monitoring her injuries, a foster-to-adopt situation would be ideal for Miss Jalapeno. Apply online at (www.lolasrescue.com)! You can email Info@lolasrescue.com anytime with questions pertaining to animals in our care.  **Dogs in a foster home will need to have a preapproved application on file before setting up meet and greets. ** ##1675180##

Story
Meet Misha, a sweet and fluffy 12-16 week old female Great Pyrenees (Pyrenean Mountain Dog) mix puppy looking for her forever home! Currently weighing 25lbs, she’s a ball of love who enjoys cuddles, playing with chew toys, and spending time outside exploring.  Misha already spayed, up to date vaccines, and chipped. She’s still working on potty training, but is a quick learner! Misha has mastered the doggy door and is doing great with outdoor potty breaks. She’s also kennel trained and sleeps peacefully through the night in her own space. Misha gets along well with other dogs and even cats, though one of the foster kitties loves her kisses while the other prefers some space, so she’s learning to respect boundaries. She is great with both adults and kids, though because I’m a big puppy, I’d do best in a home with children 6+.  While Misha does love to snuggle, she’s also independent and a little stubborn at times. She might bark to let everyone know she’s there and protecting her family, just a natural guardian. If you’re ready for a smart, playful, and loving puppy who will grow into a loyal and affectionate companion, Misha could be the perfect fit!  Misha requires a secure 5-6 ft fenced in yard.  If you are interested in meeting Misha, the first step is to complete a meet and greet application at  https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms  We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Misha’s adoption fee is $450 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado. February 27, 2025, 8:32 am
