Story
This handsome pup is Bentley. He is a 6-month-old Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain Dog/Poodle) and weighs 31 lb. We expect he will be about 50 lb full grown. Bentley is timid and a bit unsocialized so he will benefit from someone who is willing to work on training and confidence building with him. Once he gets to know you, Bentley really starts to become more comfortable but can still be wary if you move too fast. He will need some work on leash and appreciates a slower approach, but he really is a sweet and gentle/goofy dog at heart. A lot of things in life are new to Bentley so he just needs someone to show him that it's not so scary. Bentley would do best in a home with adults only. He does great with other dogs and would love a confident dog friend to play with. We don't know what Bentley thinks of cats but can "cat-test" him if needed. Our trainer is happy to work with whoever is ready to give Bentley all the love he deserves. Bentley is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and healthy. Since Bentley is a doodle, he will require regularly grooming. His adoption fee is $395. If you would like to meet/adopt Bentley, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-forms. Email daws@daws.org if you need assistance or have any questions.

Story
Meet Miloh! Yet another doodle looking for a home with the same story: purchased from an Amish puppy mill and surrendered when he turned out to be more work and expense than expected. He may look like a cuddly stuffed animal, and he will cuddle for sure, but not until he's been properly exercised and tired out for the day. He is a high energy fun active pup with a high maintenance coat that requires regular grooming. He's very friendly and good natured, likes other dogs, and is looking to be a permanent family member in a home with the time and energy for him. He's 35lbs and shouldn't get too much bigger, a mini Berne doodle, and has been neutered and updated on shots. Please submit an application to meet him Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 35 Age: 0yrs 10mths 0wks

Story
Zeke joined us after his owner became homeless. He's somewhat skittish and tends not to be fond of men. However, he adores long walks and is passionate about his tennis balls. He could engage in a game of fetch for hours and is always sure to return the ball. A quiet home would be ideal for him, but rest assured, he has an abundance of love to offer.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) NEEDS FOSTER HOMES Your help is needed to save dogs' lives. National Pyr (NGPR) is a coalition of rescuers that rescues Pyrs and Pyr mixes from Southern kill shelters where these large breed dogs last only a few days. After dogs are pulled from shelters, they are assessed, vetted, spayed or neutered and quarantined for two weeks or more before going to a foster home. There are not enough foster homes in the places the dogs come from so dogs are transported to foster families around the country where they can live in a home environment and interact with kids, cats, people and other dogs. Every dog that goes into foster home allows us to pull another dog from a shelter. Please go to National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) to learn more about the breed. Then if you are interested, please read about fostering, then fill out our volunteer application if you can help and we will get back to you shortly. We thank you and our beloved Pyrs thank you too. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page.  August 19, 2024, 5:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ivy is looking for a special family. Not just any family - a VERY special family that will understand she’s had a difficult and scary life. Ivy was rescued from a puppy mill. She arrived at NGPR very unfamiliar with human interaction and scared of almost everything. Despite her fears, she is a very sweet girl. She is making progress but has a long way to go. Ivy prefers to be indoors, where she knows she is safe. Once she is comfortable, she'll lay with her humans for short periods of time, but her new family will need to be very patient and give her lots of time to adjust. As a result of Ivy’s fears, house training had taken awhile but she is now doing well. Her new family will need to help her understand that she is safe going to the bathroom outside. Ivy seems more comfortable going outside at night than during the day as she is fearful of daylight. She is good on a leash but is too nervous to go out for walks in the neighborhood or to meet people. Ivy doesn’t have any basic obedience training. Due to her anxiety, bad behavior hasn’t really been an issue as she doesn’t venture anywhere she could get in trouble. Ivy’s perfect home is a quiet home, perhaps out in the country, as loud neighborhood noises make her very scared. Ivy would benefit from another confident dog to help her feel more secure and show her the world is not so scary. She's looking for a family that doesn’t need immediate love and affection from their dog, but Ivy will thank you for your endless patience in different ways. Watching her very slowly come out of her shell will be the best reward for her new people who have experience working with traumatized dogs. We understand that a dog like Ivy is not for everyone, this special girl requires a special place to live. We know the perfect family is out there for her. If you have a quiet home filled with patient, understanding and loving humans--well then maybe it’s the pyrfect retreat for sweet Ivy. NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Ivy in OH Age: 6 yrs 11 mos old as of August 2024 Color: white Dew Claws: no Estimated Adult Weight: 85 lbs Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Dayton, OH Medical: Spayed, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Housebroken: yes Can be Placed With: Other Dogs, No Kids, Cats unknown Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport.  Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly. NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply.  We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted.
