Story
Meet Bob Barker (A Little Character) Bob Barker needed a bit of medical care when he arrived, which unfortunately put a groom on hold. Bob had a respiratory infection that had to be resolved. Next up was the condition of his teeth, with some of the build up invading his gums and causing infection there as well. As soon as his dental appointment is complete (funded by Pound Pals Downriver) this little man will be ready for his new life to begin! EDIT: Bob lost teeth in the double digits, and is now feeling great! He is ready for his new life! A stray no one came for, Bob is estimated to be in the neighborhood of 8-10 years old. He can be quite loud when he feels it necessary and if we're being honest... a little bossy. To know him is to love him though. He's a character. He can be selective about the other animals he likes, and might not be the best fit in cat households. Be sure to check out our Facebook page at Wyandotte Animal Shelter (https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/) for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. :) Thank you for your interest in adopting! If you think the animal in this profile might be a good fit for your home and would like to meet them, here's how! !. Go to our website at wacshelter.com. 2. Click on the Apply To Adopt button to submit an online adoption application. NOTE: You will get an email confirmation that we have received your application. If you do not see this email appear upon submission, please check your "spam" folder. 3. Your application will be processed and a volunteer will call or email with any questions. NOTE: If any questions are left unanswered or incomplete, the application would not be processed. A completely filled out application will take 1-3 days to process! 4. We will set up a time with you to meet the animal you've applied to adopt! ** We DO give preference to applicants with verifiable dog experience (as a primary caretaker). All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative unless otherwise indicated. All are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and current on heartworm prevention! Additional questions... Does this dog get along with cats? He can be selective about the other animals he likes, and might not be the best fit in cat households. Does this dog react well to other dogs? No dog loves every other dog, just as humans do not like every other human they meet. A proper introduction (meet and greet) would be required as part of our application process. Is this dog good with children? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A dog will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with dogs and pay attention to body language. Young children should never be left unsupervised with new dogs. How did this dog end up in a shelter? The top reasons dogs are given up are: Moving without considering the needs of the pets Death of the owner with no plan in place for the pets Previous owner did not provide appropriate training Owner did not consider the lifespan of a dog Owner did not consider the cost of providing for a dog

Story
Name: Grinch Breed Guess: Bichon Mix Age: 1 year old Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 20 pounds Shelter Temperament: Shy, but curious Energy Level: Medium Children: No Cats: Good Dogs: Good (Meet and Greet Required) Adoption fee: $395 Grinch would do best in a home that has no kids. He takes time to warm up and can be pretty apprehensive of new people. Grinch is not the perfect small dog to take on your travels, as he appreciates the homebody life. He needs an experienced owner who can help further his training and who can keep up with his gogogo energy once he trusts you! Once he is given lots of time to get to know you, he becomes a completely different dog. He loves to sleep in bed at night, play with squeaky toys, and he wants to constantly cuddle and give kisses. We understand that he may be cute, but he will need lots of work and mental stimulation. He has not been dealt the best cards in life and deserves a home that will love him for who he is. He currently needs a lot of help with potty-training, the outside world is pretty scary to him! He's doing great with pee pads and we will give that to him, as small steps work better for him. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Max's previous owner passed away and unfortunately the family could not take him. He is currently at a foster home with another small dog and doing very well. Max is a very happy, quiet, calm dog that doesn't have a mean bone in his body and deserves to find a new family to love. Max is good with other dogs, loves people, loves attention and loves to play with little dogs and does not shed. He enjoys going on walks but he's also content with just relaxing at home with his foster parents. Max likes kids but gets startled by a lot of loud noises so older kids would be a better fit. His best fit would be a senior or someone who works from home to enjoy his companionship. He sleeps through the night. He’s just a great little guy. Even though Max is a mellow guy, when his foster parents come home he does the cutest bunny hop because he's so happy to see them. We think he is approximately 9 years old.

Story
Halo has led a very sheltered life of late but he's about as perfect dog as anyone can hope for. He's 3.5 years old. We've had him for a few months now and we've learned a ton about his personality and he's about as perfect a dog as anyone can hope to find in this life.. He is VERY smart. He loves people, primarily women, he is fine around other dogs and cats. He reacts to people in a friendly way but needs to go slow in meeting them at first. If someone has an issue with dogs and behaves weird around him, he doesn't understand that so he will bark at them, but once he is properly introduced, he will love on them. He needs a loving home with a woman in it that will be his person. A person that is going to have the time and energy to focus on him, spoiling him and having a great amount of exercise daily. He's active, he's busy, but he does calm down and snuggle after play time. Very sweet with kids, he's best with kids that are ages 8 and older, but he has been around younger kids and he's not a fan of long term exposure to them, he will look for an adult to cling to. This is what we are looking for, for him. Smoke free house with a big fenced yard. An active person who has the need for a bestie and is pretty social and active. Someone who is either a couple or works from home. He is going to need a home where his person works from home or has a business they can take him along. No apartments or manufactured home neighborhoods will be considered. He was in a crate ten hours a day and we are not going back to him being in a crate. He does heavily attach to his people. He's even made besties with a horse he's fostered with and he loves her. He's very well behaved and a great rider in the car. He LOVES going for rides and rides great in the car. Older kids are perfect for him. No kids is even more perfect for him. He likes certain other dogs. he's fine around cats. He's 19 pounds and cute as a button. He is house trained and tells you when he needs to go out. Very happy pup. He is not big on barking but he does and he will let you know when someone is approaching. Pretty great guard dog. So to recap: News house with good size fenced yard Loves car rides Great with cats, dogs, kids but doesn't want to live with kids full time Non smoking home Loves women way more than men Needs his person to be home or working from home Needs a lot of exercise often Likes play dates with other dogs, if living with another dog, that dog needs to let him be the spoiled one without cutting in front to steal the attention For more information call or text me at 517 294 4514 or send me your phone number to marlas2468@yahoo.com if you'd like information or a response.
