Lady has been our family dog for eight years. We adopted her at age two from an elderly couple that did not fully socialize her. As a result she is anxious and afraid of strangers. She barks at everyone that comes to the door. If a stranger walks in unexpectedly, she will bite them. She is house trained by day, but pees on a special rug at night. Bichons are notoriously difficult to train if you get them as an adult. She has been a loving, devoted family dog. Lady needs an experienced adopter that knows and understands dog behaviors. She is not always easy. Once she is your person, there is no more loving and devoted dog. We are focused on finding a good, loving home that will be as devoted to her as we have been.

I'm a little cautious around people and don’t like loud noises or a lot of commotion, so I’m not sure if kids are a good fit for me! I admit that I follow my foster mom everywhere, not necessarily because I want her attention, but because I want to know what she’s up to. Unless, of course, she’s giving the other pups attention—then I must be part of the action! Hee hee! I love playing with toys and eating treats. I've even started taking treats from my foster mom’s hand. Yay for me! I’m still working on potty training and doing great if kept on a routine. I also don’t like the kennel or crate. In fact, I will holler a lot when I first go into the crate and randomly throughout the night, so just for the record, you have been warned! Hee hee! I will need a dog companion and a fenced yard in my new home so we can safely explore and play together. At home, I’m lovingly shy. I kiss my foster mom in the morning and get really excited when she asks, "Are you ready to eat?" I still have to be on two leashes when I go out in the yard, but I’m coming back into the house with less hesitation now. I love other dogs and do zoomies with them in the house. Chewing on bones, especially rubber ones, is one of my favorite pastimes. Plus, I'm a super smart girl who already knows what "sit," "stay," "down," "leave it," and "go potty" all mean. I even know how to "give a kiss"! I’m looking for a fur-ever home with someone who will love me unconditionally, never give up on me, and patiently allow me the time and space I need to become comfortable in my own way. I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  Over the past few months, foster mom has been working with me on getting used to touch. She can now hold me and put me in her lap and I know I am safe.  I give her smiles and tail wags.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  that whole picking me up thing makes me nervous and I panic, but I do enjoy gentle scratches.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. What do you do when you’re a little guy who is just learning all the things that make being a dog wonderful?  You find a forever home that will help guide you through it and exposure you to all the love and patience you can have.  I’m so unsure of things that I need assistance from my loving foster mom who helps me and reassures me in just about everything she can but I also will need another dog in my forever home who can show me all about being a dog and help me be confident.  I'm a loving guy who absolutely adores playing with my foster sister. We have a blast chasing each other around the yard and doing zoomies. I'm a little timid, but every day I'm becoming more confident and comfortable in my surroundings. When I'm outside, I need to be on a leash for extra safety, but I'm getting better at coming back from the fenced yard into the house without any trouble. I'm a great eater and a bit mischievous, which adds to my charm. In the mornings, I love to wake up my foster parent by licking their ear—I'm such a sweetheart! I do have a few fears, like loud noises and a lot of commotion, so if there are kids in my forever home it would be best if they are older. Potty training is a work in progress for me; I know to use a potty pad and go outside, but I still have occasional accidents inside. I'm not crate trained, but I don't mind because I prefer to have a bit more freedom. Some of my favorite activities include chewing on bones and playing with plush toys. I do bark when my foster parent comes home and when I see a dog on the TV—it's just my way of saying I'm excited! I need to be in a home with another dog to help me build trust and get into a good routine. With patience and love, I'll continue to grow more confident. I am Dame Roselia Mushroom, I am a happy little Bichon, I cannot see very well, but I am not old, I am ancient and honorable! I am house trained and will let you know if I need to go out, or will do my business if you put me outside (unless it is raining too much).  While I will protest, I can sleep in a kennel as long as I have something soft to curl up on. Although I cannot get up on the couch by myself, I like to spend my time napping on the couch near others. I love having people around and to know where they are.  I do not move very fast and I do not see very well, so I would prefer a calmer household, though older kids who are mindful of me are good in my book, especially if they can pick me up to sit next to them on the couch and put me back down when it is time to do something else. I am not great on stairs so a house without would be best, a yard is nice but not necessary.  I have a foster floof siblings who are about the same size as me and I am unbothered by them.  My foster human says I am a good dog. He loves other dogs and would do best in a home with at least one other dog that can show him the ropes. He is currently working on potty training and learning how to use stairs. My name is Jean, and I'm a timid and loving 6-year-old female Maltese Mix with a lot of love to give. I weigh around 13 lbs, making me the perfect size for snuggles and playtime. Let me tell you a bit about myself! I absolutely love being outside and running around in a fenced yard. Toys of all kinds are my favorite, and you'll often find me playing with them happily. When I'm not playing, I enjoy relaxing and soaking up some sun. I can be a little shy, especially when there is overwhelming commotion or with quick motions, but once I feel comfortable, I open up and show my sweet and loving personality. I'm potty trained using both a potty pad and go outside, I will need a little more practice in my forever home to stay on a routine. I'm also crate trained and know the command for "kennel/crate" as well as a command for "outside." While I enjoy my crate, I do prefer being out and about with my humans. A fenced yard is essential for me because I'm not leash trained and can be fearful of new things, making me a flight risk. I don't need to be placed in a home with another dog, but I do love human company and would thrive in a home where my people are around most of the time. I only bark when I'm alarmed, so I'm generally a quiet companion. I'm very sweet and loving, and with a bit of patience and understanding, I blossom into a wonderful, loyal friend. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, my name is Calvin and I spent my early years not in any sort of inside, family-style living so this is all new to me.  So forgive me if I am a little skittish or nervous occasionally.  Especially when we first meet.  I do the same thing when outside of the environment I’ve grown accustomed to but I’m working on that and would do best with a home that will be patient and understanding.  I admit, I’ve growled at people when my stress level is over the top for me but I haven’t ever snapped or bitten anyone. But for now, maybe a home without small kids would be better as commotion, loud noises and men seem to make me more tense. I don’t have too much desire to play right now as I’m still trying to get accustomed to life in a loving environment.  I’m low key but I ventured out a bit this week and actually played with a toy!  Hold your applause! I don’t really have a fur bestie so I can be an only pet if you’re home most of the day.  Why, you ask?? Well, I tend to have lots of conversation with people and like to voice my complaints to the peanut gallery often (bark bark).  I am crate trained but that darn potty thing is a bit trickier.  However, when you keep me on a good schedule, I feel I’m close to making it happen! I don’t require a fenced yard either, as I’m working on my leash skills.  Granted, it’s got more work to be had but we can do it!  I have put my noodles together and with lots of practice, I know “sit, come, kennel, outside and go potty!” I’m food motivated which is why my noodles are functional.
