Story
Introducing Sweet Simone! This approximately 10 month old girl is oh so sweet and affectionate.  Simone is a happy, playful girl and like her sister Nadia has the cutest wigglebutt you have ever seen!  Simone and her sister Nadia were born to a stray Mom and were found living in an abandoned dilapidated house. They came to us scared and shy but have come a long way. Simone is still shy and cautious with strangers so she will need a little extra patience in the beginning. She is overall a well adjusted, delightful girl with a perfect temperament. She has a beautiful feminine face and athletic build. She weighs a healthy 50lbs.  She is a stunning girl!   Simone is up to date on all vaccines. Spayed,  heartworm negative and microchipped. Crate trained, we are working on leash training.  This precious girl is lovingly fostered in Rutledge GA.    ##1172345##

Story
Deputy was born to a stray Mom in a dilapidated abandoned shack.  Completely feral and terrified of humans the Mom could not and would not be caught. It was a freezing cold rainy January day when I first saw her litter of 14 huddled together in the corner of the abandoned house with no windows or doors. Too young to take, all we could do was leave food for the Mom each day hoping she would not leave or move her puppies. But she did move them numerous times. Sadly we continued to find dead puppies until one day they all disappeared. At age 4.5 months we were notified that 5 puppies were eating at the abandoned house. We recognized them by their markings and age. These pups were also feral by this time. But we could not leave them to live their lives as strays in a rural county with no animal control or shelter. Where they would likely be shot, poisoned or trapped to be used as bait dog's.  Three of Deputy's siblings have been adopted and are absolutely wonderful pets. Deputy and his brother Roscoe are still being fostered. Deputy was always the most cautious boy of his litter. He is extremely smart and curious, wants to play and be included, but often at a distance. It's been a slow process to gain his trust. Deputy bears a striking resemblance to Paw Patrols "Chase." He has coonhound markings including the distinctive "pumpkin seeds" above his big sweet brown eyes. With a long basset hound shaped body, short legs, and adorable east/west facing chubby front paws.  Deputy is one of a kind and so stinking cute. Deputy is good with other dogs of all ages & sizes and has been introduced to cats but at a distance. He's a healthy stocky boy with a lush shiny coat. He has the most expressive eyes. That tell me he wants to come closer but just needs to learn more trust and confidence.  Deputy will require a very patient adopter or foster home that is experienced with fearful dogs. His foster home currently has a lot of dogs, including a medical foster. They are managing so many personalities and dynamics they cannot give him the one on one attention he desperately needs. He absolutely needs a fenced yard. Dirt Road Doggie’s Rescue will provide everything he needs and our full support as he transitions to new surroundings. He is a terrific watch dog. Keenly aware and protective. He will be challenging. But like his siblings, once the barrier is lifted you will have an amazing little guy to love. Deputy needs a hero. ♥  Deputy is being lovingly fostered in Rutledge Ga.  ##816349##

Story
Meet Missy Lou Who 👉 Bring Her Home Missy is the kind of dog you don’t just meet—you remember. With the most striking eyeliner you’ve ever seen and a heart full of sweetness, she’s the beauty queen of our shelter. But beneath her gorgeous good looks is a soul that’s been patiently waiting far too long for someone to truly see her. Missy came to us with her brother, and while he found a home quickly, she’s been here since April 2022, quietly hoping her turn will come. She's a 3-to-4-year-old Hound and Black Mouth Cur mix, weighing around 40 to 50 pounds, and she radiates joy and warmth from the moment you meet her. Life hasn’t always been kind to Missy. She’s never really known what it feels like to be the center of someone’s world. Because of that, she tends to bond deeply with one person—her person. The one who finally gives her the attention, affection, and stability she’s craved her whole life. Once she trusts you, you’ll see her true colors: affectionate, loyal, a little goofy, and so full of love that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without her. Missy is active and playful—she’ll absolutely help you hit your daily step count and she’ll keep you smiling the whole way. But when the day winds down, she’s just as happy curling up for cuddles, soaking up every bit of the love she spent years waiting for. She gives the best hugs, the gentlest kisses, and has a way of making you feel like the most important person in the world. And that's just it—Missy wants to be the most important part of your world, because she wants to make you the most important part of hers. For that reason, she needs to be the only animal in the home. She’s waited too long to share the spotlight and truly deserves her moment to shine. She would do best with a fenced yard where she can run, explore, and feel safe. After so long in the shelter, she may need a little time to decompress, and she can be protective once she settles into a home. Training and patience will help her feel confident and secure—and you’ll be amazed at the bond that blossoms. Missy Lou Who is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to finally be someone’s everything. She’s the kind of dog who changes your life in quiet, beautiful ways—and she’s been waiting so long for her chance. If you're ready for a forever friend who will love you with her whole heart, Missy is ready to meet you. 👉 Adopt Missy

Meet Jimmy! Jimmy (7 years, 48 lbs.) is very beautiful dog, he's your typical hound, lazy, and super mellow. If your looking for someone to keep the squirrels, raccoons, opossums, etc out of your yard he's your perfect candidate. He enjoys playing with bigger dogs and even hanging out in the pool with his friends! Jimmy can be a little nervous of new places and sounds but that is nothing some treats can't fix!

These pups are in Toccoa, Georgia too!
