Story
Dixie is a UKC registered purple ribbon champion bloodline pure bred black and tan coonhound. Birthdate is 6/10/2016 (8 years, 9 months). She has been a joy on our small farm for 8 years, she was purchased from a breeder in Wytheville, Va. She had a lifelong friend in our male yellow lab that we had to put down in August of 2024 (he was 16 years old). Since then she has been very depressed and gone on many searches for him. She is at a place now where she needs constant companionship and does not enjoy our home any longer. She is not contained on our 9 acre property at all times and is actively running off searching for a new home. I cannot keep her locked up in our garage 24/7 and she is not the type of dog to be penned up in a kennel constantly. An experienced owner with lots of land and a constant companion is what she needs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I’m Bonnie and I’m a hound dog and I like doing hound things – following bunny trails in the yard, sniffing out the bushes for anything that needs to be “treed”, ensuring all packages entering the house are thoroughly examined for potential dog treats, helping to keep the kitchen clean (floor and counters!), and scoping out the neighbor’s yard from the deck.  My favorites things are going for walks, peanut butter, dog chews and meeting people. I love giving “hound hugs” and get pets. With my curious nature, I investigate everything in the yard and the house. But when I’m done running around outside and have ensured all is good in the house, I’m all up for Netflix and chill, cuddling up with my person and napping. I’ll need a well-built fenced yard (I can climb chain linked fences!) and a cat-free home.  I’m an alpha dog, so I’ll do best in a single dog home and someone to help me with my separation anxiety. I came into the humane society being positive for heartworms (this is caused from being bitten by a infected mosquito which is very common in the USA). They were so nice and helped me go through treatment which took several months, but now I am all better and can’t wait to find my forever home.   Estimated DOB:  05/08/2020  Adoption fee: $200 (6% KY sales tax included)    We would love to hear from you! Story
Meet Penelope Penelope is a sweet foxhound/collie mix about a year old and roughly 55 lbs. She requires a secure fence and any walk should be on a leash. She is very affectionate and great for someone who runs/walks daily. She is smart and would be very easily trained with a little effort. She would do well in a house with older children.
