Story
This is Sahara, she is almost three and the sweetest girl. she is very snuggly and loves to watch Mickey Mouse on the tv. I originally got her to serve as an esa. my school has a strict policy on this. unfortunately Sahara and I were attacked by another dog in my apartment complex. this has led to her developing fear aggression towards strangers while on a leash. she does really well at dog parks and in the home with others. it is specifically on a leash. due to her behavior she no longer qualifies to be an ESA. I am not able to get her the behavior training she needs as I am being given a short notice that I'm not allowed to keep her in housing anymore. she's potty trained, spayed and vaccinated. I'm hoping to find someone who can take her in with a private yard where she can live a happy life. she's great with other dogs, but not cats or birds please I really just want her to be happy.

Don't like being kenneled but respects dog gates in home. Doesn't mind being a couch potato. Basic Training: Knows her basics and listen well with food motivation. Drive is lacking without the food bonus, but she can still listen. Walks decent on leash but when excitable leash correction is needed Other Dogs: Other male dogs in the home will be fine, but she wants to be the only queen lady. Cats: Respects the cats in the trainers home but had limited access Kids: No known behavior for concern with kids and has lived with older kids. Fencing: Has been trained to electric fence and respects 5 ft fence Willing to dart doors if not given direction to wait if she is excited. The adoption fee is $50. This dog has had its age-appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic de-wormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped with free registration. Important PLEASE read if interested in adoption: We have a pretty open adoption policy, apartments, unfenced yards, and young kids are okay, but only if the pet you are interested in is a good fit for that situation!!! Some dogs may require a fence of a certain type and height, due to safety, the breed or known history. We are looking for pet parents that provide vet care such as routine vaccines for their pets and heartworm prevention for dogs. Please understand we do cross check vet references and landowners/landlord policies and cannot process applications with incomplete or incorrect information. We asked that you take your newly adopted dog for a vet exam in the first 30 days to establish with your vet and obtain their heartworm prevention prescriptions and have a fecal exam administered as some pets may need additional de-womer after leaving our care.    Please submit a  Pre-Adoption Questionnaire by clicking the hyperlink if visible or visiting  Our Home Page to the application link  to show your interest in adoption. Only submit one app for any of our dogs, your app will be on file for at least 1 year. This questionnaire simply helps inform us if the dog you are interested in might match your families' dynamics based on what we have learned about that dog. All of our pets at True Friends Animal Rescue are featured on Our Home Page and can be accessed from our web listings, take a look as there may be more than one in our rescue that you like. if you don't find the information you are needing thru our websites, please submit an E-mail.    November 5, 2024, 5:14 pm

Story
This distinguished gentleman is Todd! Todd is an approximately 7.5-year old male Treeing Walker Hound mix who weighs around 50 lbs. Todd was adopted at 1-year old and returned to the rescue recently when the family decided they wanted a new puppy and Todd could not “warm” up to the puppy. Todd is searching for a loving forever home that will include him in activities and give him lots of love and attention. He loves to run in the yard, so he needs a securely fenced back yard. Todd has done really well with the other dogs he has met, but prefers those who are laid back and not in his face. Todd can be playful and energetic, but he can also be laid back and loving. A perfect combination! He appears house-trained, will go in a crate (but not a fan), and is good on a leash. He is neutered, current on vaccines, on heartworm preventative, and microchipped. Since Todd is in a daycare boarding situation, he qualifies for a foster-to-adopt or just a foster dog! To adopt Todd, go to www.foreveryoursokc.org/adoption-application. To foster Todd, go to www.foreveryoursokc.org/foster-application.
