Story
https://foha.org/pet/oscar/ Hello. I am Oscar. No, I do not have a hot dog named after me. No, I'm not a grouch from Sesame Street (although I do have my moments), and I'm not the messy Oscar from the Odd Couple. I am Oscar the hound. A redbone coonhound to be precise. Since I am a hound, my nose leads the way on long walks. I am great with other dogs. I especially love to relax outdoors in the sun and I am house trained. I also know basic commands and take treats well. I love car rides! While I am primarily good-natured, I can be protective of food, toys, and objects that I think are mine. I would do best in a home with no children and a strong experienced owner. A few other things about me. I do the "Oscar dance to make a pitch for some yummy treats. Also, I always, always have a smile on my face. I love low-key living and know a great home is out there for me. Come and visit to see my Oscar dance, and let's get to know each other! If you have the experience and are looking for a dog to hang out on the back porch and bath in the sun. I am the Oscar for you.

Story
https://foha.org/pet/ladybird2024/ Hi there! I'm Ladybird, and I'm so excited to meet you! I absolutely love going for walks—there's nothing like stretching my legs and sniffing all the interesting smells along the way. I enjoy exploring new places, and I'm always up for a little adventure. I used to live in a home where I felt loved, but now I'm looking for a new family to call my own. I’m a pretty vocal gal, so if I have something on my mind, you’ll definitely hear about it! Whether it’s a bark to greet you or a little conversation, I’ll always let you know how I’m feeling. If you’re someone who enjoys walks, a bit of chatter, and love giving a dog some attention, then I might just be the perfect companion for you. I can’t wait to meet you and see what exciting things we can do together!

CHANCE MUST BE ADOPTED SOON AS HIS FOSTER MOTHER CANNOT KEEP HIM MUCH LONGER! Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We'll transport to a destination near you every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

I was rescued, along with my sister Pup Valerie, by K-9 Lifesavers from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama. Because there have been so many recent changes in my life, I am shy. I warm up quickly if there is another dog around. I would really like to find a home with a confident and welcoming dog to show me the ropes. I'm a sweet and loving pup just looking to find my forever home. Could that be with you? At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization too. I promise to be the best friend you've ever had. Adopting me would mean endless love, companionship, and a loyal friend. I can't wait to meet you! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Donations help us offset boarding costs and additional medical treatment for those dogs who need it.  K-9 Lifesavers receives NO federal funding and survive with your generous support! For more information on K-9 Lifesavers, or to view a complete listing of all our Adoptable Dogs, visit our website at https://k-9lifesavers.org/adopt. Please “like” our  Facebook Page  for the most current events and new dogs.Thank you for considering a rescue dog! ##2250728##
