Story
Hey there, I'm Penelope! I'm a fun-loving girl with a happy attitude. I do great on a leash- I don't even pull! I'm potty-trained and do good in my kennel overnight as long as I have toys to play with! I seem to do good with other dogs but the shelter reccomends a quick introduction before sending me home. I'd love to find my person or family that I can call my own.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2155017##

Story
Koda is a 3 year old black mouth cur/lab mix. She is energetic, loves attention and to play fetch. She is the perfect dog for someone who is active and likes to run, walk, hike, etc. She does well with other humans and dogs, and has been to the dog park and doggy daycare countless times. She would do well in a home with an active couple with no kids, or someone older looking for a loyal companion. She will do ok with older kids and teens, but not suitable for young kids. She does get along with other dogs, but a perfect situation would be her being the only dog so she can get the full attention and love she needs. She is a good girl and deserves a loving home  *Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, we have reformatted the way that we do adoptions in order to follow social distancing protocols. We are thrilled that so many people want to adopt right now, but we are not equipped to handle the large number of calls, applications, and email inquiries we are receiving. We are no longer answering phone calls and are doing all communications with adopters via email. If you have a dog you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application before sending us emails. When your application has been processed, you will receive an email from us with further instructions on how to adopt. You do not need a new application for every dog that you are interested in adopting.  At MAMCO we understand that in order to continue rescuing moms and babies, we must stretch our finances as far as we are able. For this reason we use variable adoption pricing. By assigning higher adoption fees to high demand moms and puppies, we are able to rescue more families in need. The money raised through these adoptions acts as a benefactor to moms and puppies in our care who require expensive veterinary treatments, have behavioral issues, or need more time to find a home. We often reduce the adoption fees on these harder-to-place moms and puppies to help them find forever families. Adoption fees vary, but all include spay or neuter, microchip, up to date vaccinations and deworming, rabies vaccine at the time of spay or neuter, and 30 days of pet insurance. We also cover hernia repair and cherry eye repair at the time of spay or neuter. Applications can be filled out at mamcorescue.org. ##1045935##

Story
Vada, a 10-month-old lab mix, is a dynamic and empathetic individual. Having navigated a multitude of experiences in her brief life, she continues to radiate joy. With her lighthearted and endearing personality, she is well-suited for a household with another dog of similar size (~50 pounds), providing her with a companion for playful activities. While she is known to be fond of people and dogs of all sizes, her affinity for cats remains undetermined. As a responsive learner, she has acclimated to crate training during nighttime hours and is eager to secure a permanent home for the new year

Story
I am a loving loyal companion. I love to be active and I really enjoy anything outdoors. Take me on adventures and I'd be so happy! I will love my humans with all my heart. I am a jumper and I can clear smaller fences. I would need a home with a 6 ft fence or higher. I could also do well in an apartment or townhome as long as I get walks & outdoor fun regularly. I may do best as an only dog. No cats please. I love humans. I do jump sometimes, so I'll need help with containing my excitement. I have a very high prey drive so I do need a home that understands that. I am very smart and I learn quickly. I'd need to continue training because I love to work! I am crate trained. I love humans. I do jump sometimes, so I'll need help with containing my excitement. I have a very high prey drive so I do need a home that understands that. I am very smart and I learn quickly. I'd need to continue training because I love to work! I am crate trained. I would do fine with children but may do best with those that are 8 years or older. I do jump and I may be too much for smaller children. I love my woof pupsicles! I also love anything that takes me a bit to work on, like Kongs with something yummy inside. I would love a family that is very active. I would also need a family that will continue to train with me because I am very smart and love to learn. I would probably be best as an only dog and I'd need a home without cats or small animals. My adoption fee includes a behavior program / class that fits my needs.
