His gentle nature makes him the perfect companion for relaxing at home or sharing a quiet moment. When he’s not busy being a love bug, Ferbabio is all about fun and play! Whether it’s running after a ball, engaging in a game of tug-of-war, or simply chasing after his own tail, Ferbabio’s playful energy is boundless. His joy is contagious, and he’s always ready to bring a little excitement to the day. With his good looks, affectionate heart, and playful spirit, Ferbabio is the complete package — a lovable companion that’s always up for an adventure or a cuddle. When I arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, I tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like me to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after my treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that I will fully recover! Yeah! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. I hope to meet you soon! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Story
Sandy, affectionately known as Maisie or sometimes Maisie Daisy by her foster family, is a beautiful young dog, likely a Black Mouth Cur mix, with a soft coat and a natural smile. At about a year old and weighing around 55 pounds, Maisie might still have a little growing to do. She turns heads wherever she goes, with people often complimenting her amazing eyes, sleek coat, and overall stunning appearance. Maisie came to Illinois from Texas a couple of months ago, leaving behind a difficult past. She had puppies while still a puppy herself and never got the chance to fully experience her own puppyhood. Her early life was challenging, including a battle with heartworm that left her underweight, but she handled the treatment like a champ and is now on the road to a healthier and happier life. Since arriving at her foster home, Maisie has been adjusting to living indoors, something entirely new to her. She is making great progress with potty training and is learning what it means to be part of a family. While she is still shy with new people and tends to be most comfortable around her foster mom, with time, patience, and a few treats, Maisie transforms into the most loyal, loving, and devoted companion. She’s a smart girl, too—already mastering commands like “sit,” “down,” “come,” and “touch.” Maisie currently lives with adults, a patient foster dog brother, and a cat she barely notices. Her ideal day includes breakfast, a cozy nap, a good walk, some playtime, maybe another nap, and plenty of attention from her people. She would thrive in a home with a consistent routine, ideally with another dog that matches her energy and stamina. A fenced yard or access to a nearby dog park would be perfect for her, as she loves to run and is impressively fast—her foster mom even thinks she might have a bit of greyhound in her. Maisie needs a family that will offer her the patience and understanding she deserves. She has not had an easy start in life, but she is ready to find a forever home where she can finally feel safe, loved, and truly at home. Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
