Story
Sweet Jasper is a neutered reddish tan Southern Black Mouth Cur mix who is about two years old. This handsome guy is a wonderful dog with a really loving personality. He wandered up onto his foster parents’ property and was so easy to have around that they decided to foster him. He gets along great with other dogs. His foster brother is a 100 lb lab, and they provide constant entertainment as they wrestle and play. Jasper has also met neighbor dogs and has gotten along well with them.  He loves to snuggle on the couch and lay with his head on his foster Mom’s lap. Jasper has not gone to the bathroom inside, he waits to go outside, so we believe he is house trained. He walks on a leash, listens and wants to learn. Jasper is being brought up to date on all health care and will be neutered when he finds his home. He is under 35 lbs, shorter than a full bred Cur, and doesn’t bark much in the house. Jasper is a gentleman who is a joy to live with and will easily fit into his loving forever home. $75 adoption fee.   This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.    Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.August 19, 2024, 4:21 pm

Story
Sweet Lizzie ended up at our local veterinarian's office with a request to euthanize her. She was a healthy sweet girl, and we were immediately contacted. Lizzie is a cuddle bug, only wanting to be with you. She needs someone who is home most of the time as she gets upset when she cannot find her human. She is good with other dogs and would do well to have a playmate. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Hey there, future adventure buddy! I'm Mountain Dewd, a Black Mouth Cur mix with a big heart and a friendly smile, tipping the scales at 63lbs of pure joy. At a little over a year old, I'm still in my prime playful puppy stage, ready to fill your life with laughter, cuddles, and fun! I'm a friendly and social guy who loves making new friends!. My goofy charm and curious nature make every day an adventure. Whether it's discovering new scents on our walks or figuring out how to get that treat out of the puzzle toy, I'm always up for something new and exciting. I might be a bit doofy sometimes, but that just adds to my irresistible charm! I love to play, and my smarts help me learn new tricks and commands quickly-I'm eager to please and always ready for a good challenge. When playtime is over, I'm all about those cozy cuddles and snuggles. I'm also housetrained, so I'm a well-behaved guy who knows how to keep things tidy at home. If you're looking for a companion who's playful, smart, and oh-so-cuddly, I could be the one for you. But before we can have our first meet-up, please make sure to submit your adoption application online. This helps my friends at the shelter set up everything for our introduction. Remember, all of us here come home spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. I'm ready to jump into my new life with you, happy and healthy! Let's be BFFs! Filling out an application is super duper easy and it puts you at no obligation to adopt if we aren't the perfect match. You can use this quick and easy link to meet me soon: https://foothillshumanesociety.org/adopt/adoption-application/ Can't wait to share some awesome adventures and snuggle time with you!
