Story
Savoring her second chance at life is sweet 8-month-old Shelli. The brindle beauty and former stray puts all of her 30 pounds into being her foster mom’s best snuggle buddy, cuddling with her on the couch, resting her head on her, rolling over for belly rubs and then performing her Shelli rendition of the ranger crawl. She interacts easily with her doggy foster friends of assorted sizes, and although she’s initially shy when meeting new people, she accepts pets from everyone, and has been wonderful with the various children she’s encountered. Honing her leash skills during the walks she loves (she’s presently healing well from a broken leg), Shelli also loves playing outside, loves all toys, especially rubber toys, and more than loves chewing hones. Motivated by food, toys and love, she currently knows “sit,” “stay,” “no,” “off” and “leave it,” is at work on her puppy manners, and is crate trained and almost fully house-trained to use a doggy door. Impressionable, intelligent and eager to please, Shelli should flourish in a loving family that will patiently perfect her manners, complete her training, including her commands, and keep her mentally stimulated and physically satisfied fur-ever. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $425. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here. Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
