Story
Hadley is a 1-2 yr old pure red. We rescued her from a high kill overcrowded shelter in southern Utah. She is an exceptionally smart coonhound! She learns things after 1:00 or two lessons. She is excellent with all people and other dogs, her size and bigger. She needs a slow supervised introduction to smaller dogs so she knows they are not cats! She cannot be in a home with cats. She is fairly quiet for a coonhound and stays nicely in any size yard. She is active and energetic and needs the same in an owner. Coon need lots of exercise but equal amounts of couch snuggle time. Coonhounds are inside dogs!

These pups are in Spokane, Washington too!

Story
The outdoors is calling, and Cannoli will answer! Meet Cannoli! Cannoli is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area. (See information below in the “Adoption Donation” section.) “Fur-st Impressions” are very important! Schedule a meet and greet with Cannoli before applying to see if he is the perfect fit for your family by emailing us at Fur-stImpressions@pathofhoperescue.com.  A completed Adoption Application will be required after the meet and greet to move forward with Cannoli’s adoption. Remember your first adventure into the wild? That feeling of freedom and peace and knowing you will never be the same again? Well, Cannoli recently had that experience with his fosters. They took him to Myrtle Peak west of Bonners Ferry for his first hiking trip. He absolutely loved it! Cannoli was instantly at ease with the feel of gravel under his feet and the breeze in his face, and he handled the 7,000 feet elevation like a pro. He even hiked off leash, never leaving his foster’s side. Cannoli also camped for two days that weekend (his first camping outing), and he jumped in the lake like he had been doing this outdoor thing his whole life.  Besides being an instant convert to the joys of outdoor adventuring, Cannoli is a handsome, loving dog. Born in September of 2022, Cannoli is a leggy Treeing Walker Coonhound mix (best guess) with short brown fur and black markings who weighs in at a trim 55 lbs. And those ears! Too cute! Coonhounds are known for being affectionate, loyal, and active, and Cannoli embodies all these traits. Eager and curious, Cannoli really enjoys walks, cuddles, and spending time with his people when he isn’t conquering mountains. When worn out from his playing, Cannoli likes nothing better than a snuggle on the couch. He is the perfect blend of workout partner and binge-watching buddy. Cannoli relishes the company of other dogs as both playmates and snuggle buddies, and he has done well with cats he has met. Cannoli would do best in a home with older, calmer children. A smart dog who is eager to learn, Cannoli is fully crate and potty trained. He sleeps through the night, and he has his obedience skills down. Cannoli walks well on a leash; he is alert and engaged during his outside explorations and curious about the world.  Cannoli’s ideal home? It would have people to love who love him back, make sure he gets lots of activity (more outdoor adventures, please!), and ensure he practices the skills that make him a happy and well-rounded pup.  Dog siblings would be cool, but he also would be fine as a solo pet companion. A calm but physically active household would give him the exercise requirements he needs. Cannoli is a lovable sweetheart with a few quirks that have benefitted from training.  We will waive the $450 minimum adoption donation for adopters who agree to attend training with one of our Preferred Training Partners to learn how to set him up for success in his new home.    What is Path of Hope’s Adoption Process? Our dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; microchipped with free lifetime registration; and up to date on DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines (when age appropriate) and deworming and heartworm treatment/prevention. Adopters can also earn a $100 training refund if they attend (6) hours of any in person training course. Long Distance adopters (one hour or more from Spokane) may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250.  Puppy Delivery Express currently delivers dogs throughout Washington and to parts of Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.   About Path of Hope Rescue At Path of Hope Rescue, our goal is to make EVERY DOG. WANTED. Our two employees and army of volunteers focus on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes. We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment. Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events. Please visit https://www.pathofhoperescue.com/ for more information about our organization and the adoption process. ##1624298##

Story
Riah Renee is thought to be a Catahoula Leopard Dog / Border Collie mix. She is estimated to be between 2 1/2 and 3 years old. She was rescued by a sanctuary. She displayed behaviors of being abused, was malnourished and scared (especially of feet). She has made much progress and is very happy & active. Once she warms up to you, she is very attentive and wants to interact often. She does not do well with crating and does best with having a safe bed place in a dark room to retreat to if needed. Riah has a lot of personality, beauty and a frequently wagging tail. She loves to go on walks, chase squirrels, for car rides and off leash adventures in the woods. She has learned to fetch and do many tricks. She has a very expressive face and her ears move in every direction except forward. An ideal home for her would be where someone is mostly home, a fenced yard, and provides regular exercise like walks and hikes. This past year she has been the only pet in a calm quiet home with no kids.

He was very thin and had suffered unimaginable abuse and neglect. He has spent the last year at the refuge learning to trust humans and how to be a dog.He is still a work in progress (aren’t we all).He is great with other dogs, he is good with dog savvy cats, he needs slow positive introductions with new people. He is house trained, crate trained, knows his name, some basic commands, and is VERY true to his hound nature and breed. His ideal home has a fully fenced in yard, dog experience, hound experience, is going to continue his training, is active, no children under the age of 13, and can continue with his progress and recovery. His two biggest remaining issues are issues with food so he is exclusively fed in his crate and he hates having his feet touched. He is big ol’ happy, doofy, slobbery, nose to the ground guy and has a bloodhound bay that can shake the windows.A fully fenced yard is required with a minimum height of 6 feet of the entire perimeter. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DHPP & Rabies), microchipped, and has had deworming treatments. ##1717738##
