Story
Albie is a chill 11-12 year old senior looking for his new home. He spends most of his day napping and when the sun is out, looks for spots to sunbathe. He came to us from a shelter when he was estimated to be 1 year old with most of his habits already developed. He is food motivated and protects his food. He does not play with toys and not interested in a toy unless food is involved. He is not very active and loves to be petted every now and then. Unfortunately, with our life changes we are unable to give him the attention he needs and deserves. He is fine at the vet but hates the groomers so you will need to be able to groom him yourself or find a groomer that will work with anxious dogs. He is potty trained, but because he is getting older, he does have occasional accidents, especially when he is excited. He knows basic commands such as sit, down, and paw. He prefers to lounge indoors and does not pay much attention to other pets or kids unless they take his food.

Story
Bella is a sweet, loving, energetic dog. In April she lost her life long dog-companion, and is recovering from a major leg surgery that occurred February 2024. As a result, she has developed anxiety and needs more attention and stimulation than her current, elderly owner, can provide. Bella needs a home with another dog, and owners who are at home most of the day. Her physical activity has been greatly limited to prevent her from jumping up on her back legs and running, both things she LOVES to do! She goes on daily walks in a stroller, but otherwise is not getting enough stimulation to help get out her energy and ease her anxiety. She has a history of leg problems and required surgery back in 2021 for a torn ACL on her back right leg. She also has a heart murmur and takes medication twice, daily. She gets itchy paws that she will lick raw if you let her. It is unclear if she does this because of anxiety or allergies. She's a good girl and eager to please!

* Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family. *Please note that adoptions for our adult dogs will occur after their scheduled Spay/Neuter surgeries.
