Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Border Collie/ McNab xEstimated Date of Birth : 11/07/2024It’s hard not to be shy when humans have let you down but Dottie is here to prove that even shy dogs can learn to trust. She’s in just the right place to learn how amazing people can be and already we are seeing a huge difference. The shy scared pup we 1st met is building on her confidence and is such an incredibly sweet girl. She wants to trust and wants those positive interactions with both people and other dogs. She’s still runs away a bit when you go to say hi but quickly comes back because she craves the attention she knows people can provide. Dottie’s past is unknown but she was found by one of our foster families injured in downtown Bakersfield. It appeared that another animal had beaten her up pretty badly. She had puncture wounds and swelling across her face, neck and head. One of the punctures on her face went all the way through into her mouth. She was in rough shape but we were still hopeful she had a family looking for her. Dottie spent the next month completing her stray hold at the city shelter. Her family never came and when her time was up another of our most experienced fosters said yes to getting this girl out and into an available foster spot in their home. Dottie is fostered with a trainer who is helping her leave her past behind and build the skills she needed to improve her confidence and thrive. It’s working! Dottie is crate trained and growing more social and confident every day. Underneath that initial scared exterior is a happy and playful girl who loves her canjne buddies and has been incredibly sweet, even if a bit shy, with every human she’s met. Dottie just needed her chance to shine and she’s finally getting it. She’s ready to move on to the next chapter of her life and would love nothing more than an incredible family to continue her training and a home to call her own.
