Story
Hi friends! I`m Bodie, a 2 year old, 70 lb suspected border collie mix in search of my forever home. I`m new here at the Santa Barbara Shelter, but it hasn`t taken me long to make tons of human and doggy friends! Staff and volunteers say I am a true social butterfly because I love going into playgroup with my adoptable friends Grizzley and Bailey just as much as I love going on day trip adventures with my human friends! I would love to find a forever home with a family that will take me on jogs or hikes (these long legs were meant for moving!) and then curl up on the couch for a snuggle afterward. I wouldn`t mind having a playful doggy brother or sister too! And while I haven`t met any kids yet, I think I would really like them (as long as they are okay with me giving lots of kisses, hehe) because I`m a gentle and affectionate guy that has loved every human I`ve ever met. If I sound like I could be your guy, come meet me at 5473 Overpass Road in Goleta!

Story
Lola is excellent with people and loves children, making her a perfect family addition. She's crate trained, housebroken, and leash trained, understanding commands like a pro. Lola was in a home where she wasn’t exposed to other dogs, which led to some excitement and reactivity on leash. She’s currently working through this and making great progress.

Story
Hi there, my name is Sally! I`m about 9 years old, but don`t let that fool you, I still have lots of life left in me. I`m a gentle lady and I love my leisurely walks. My running and hiking days are behind me now, but a lovely stroll and some relaxing time with my human (s) would be ideal. I would love a soft landing in my Golden Years. If you think we could create some wonderful memories, please stop by SPARC to meet me. xo ~ Sally

Story
Sonar is a 5 year old AKC/ABCA Border Collie. High energy, medium drive. Loves both toys and food. Loves water, fetch, tug, hikes and training. High prey drive. No kids, could live with small animals if managed appropriately. Dog friendly, but can come off strong. He loves to cuddle and lives to please his owner. He is a very sensitive dog and doesn't respond well to corrections, he needs someone who can be patient with him. Knows his basic obedience and has been started on advanced obedience. Crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, place trained. Does well with handling like touching his paws and checking mouth or ears. Sonar is a good boy and fun to work with, he needs someone who can make him their main focus. I have a google drive with all of our training, as well as various other pictures and videos, that can be sent over if interested.

Chino

Border Collie Alaskan Malamute

Male, Adult
Fillmore, CA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Chino is a good dog for the right home, but he has two flaws: he doesn't care to share an environment with any other dogs, and he can escape from almost any confinement. Since we like Border Collies in general, and since he was "overdue" at his animal shelter one day when we were there picking up another dog, he was also chosen and saved. We quickly learned that the part of Chino that is not Border Collie is probably one of the tundra breeds like Malamute, because we had to fully enclose every inch of his kennel to keep him in. (This was after he escaped from four previous attempts to kennel him.) The good news is that after escaping he only wanted to stay by the side of his human friends here at the rescue, so he'll need a pretty much constant human companion. Chino is about 3 years old and weighs about 80 pounds.

Border Collie German Shepherd Dog

Female, Young
Fillmore, CA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Blissy is a 1-year-old (as of February 1, 2024) mixed breed pup whose owner had to relinquish her due to incompatibility with her other female dog, the "alpha" dog in the home. Blissy did well with the two male dogs, and in our experience here she has done well with another female that is not a dominant girl. We think she is probably Shepherd-Border Collie or some such mix, and she's incredibly smart. Blissy "play-nips" gently when excited, which makes us think Border Collie or some other herding breed may be in her gene pool. She's mostly housebroken, knows many commands (typically having to be told only once), aims to please, and loves long walks. Her ex-owner says Blissy "is an absolutely wonderful dog" whom she will greatly miss.
