Hi, my name is Moxie! I came to the SPCA because my owner could no longer care for me. Are you looking for a running companion? Look no further-I'm your dog! I am a playful dog who loves to go on walks and play on the beach! I would prefer to live in a house without other dogs. And guess what? I would love to go home with you! I'm currently available for adoption behind the scenes, but if you would like to get to know a bit more about me, please speak with our customer care team. Story
Introducing Zaida! This sweet border collie mix came to AFRP after she was found along the side of a road where a good samaritan stopped to help her. Now, she's thriving in foster care and ready to find her forever home! Zaida is an active girl, treat-motivated and loving as can be. She's on the hunt for a home with experienced adopters who have previously owned herding breeds and understand the extensive physical and mental stimulation required to make these pups thrive! Zaida would prefer to find a home as the only pup but does well with other dogs - she loves being the center of attention! She's not an apartment pup and will require a fenced-in yard to ensure she's able to have some space to get all of that energy out! Zaida will need an adult only family, or adopters with children over the age of 8 to continue her positive training and socialization. While in our care, Zaida has been diagnosed with idiopathic head tremor syndrome (IHTS), a benign condition characterized by focal head tremors of unknown cause. While this condition is not fully understood, Zaida's continuous head and body tremors are managed as part of her unique journey. Tremors do resolve over time, but some, such as Zaida, have continuous head and body tremors. Alongside this, Zaida is currently taking long-term medication to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, as well as OCD. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online dog application.

Story
Looks like: Border Collie Mix Female, 10 years old (estimated), 51 pounds Sweet Sasha has had a difficult past, but it's been a true joy watching her come out of her shell and show her true colors - that of a loyal, sweet and happy border collie mix. Once she has settled into your home, you will find this gentle girl right by your side (preferably on a soft doggie bed) eager for love and affection. Sasha loves to snuggle and has the softest, cuddliest coat that she enjoys getting brushed. This sweet lady is looking for a forever home where she can spend her years surrounded by love and support. Sasha would do best in a calm, quiet home that is free from too many stairs as she has some arthritis that can make going up and down stairs painful. She does well with other calm dogs she meets while out and about and may thrive while living with such a 'furiend'. She has been living harmoniously with another large and more energetic dog in her foster home and a younger dog that was recently adopted by her foster family. She is very patient as her foster brother runs around her. On her walks, sweet talk and a treat to redirect her attention as strangers go by has worked wonders for helping her feel safe while out and about. Sasha is looking for her next person/family with patience to continue to work with her on any lingering anxiety and help her gain confidence. This persevering pup was found as a stray in Modesto and came to us from Stanislaus Animal Services so we could get her the medical care she needed.

Story
Looks like: Border Collie mix Male, 8 years old (estimated), 74 pounds Here's a mellow fellow for you! Meet handsome Beau, a distinguished older gentleman who's also the king of kisses. He is friendly, quick to make friends, and perfectly peaceful with other dogs, cats, chinchillas and other small mammals. He loves people and is eager to bond with his forever people: the more, the merrier! Beau is slowly getting the hang of his crate and would love his adopter to continue working on crate training. A lower energy dude, he enjoys a stroll, high quality treats, and a nap. Beau's inner puppy is still evident when he's playing with his squeaky toys. Beau is a big boy who can find slippery hardwood floors and stairs a little challenging. He doesn't love being left alone for too long, but using the crate as a home base has helped reassure him. He's a champ in the car. Beau joined us from Santa Cruz County Animal Services.
