WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES! Meet Maverick! This poor boy had a rough start as he came into our partner rescue with a large burn down his back. Despite his injury he is a loving boy who is ready to find his forever home! Update from his foster: " Meet Maverick! This boy is as happy and easy-going as they come. He plays well with other dogs, but is also good at entertaining himself with toys. Maverick happy to greet everyone with tail wags and a goofy smile. How could you not love those big ears? Maverick is a pretty mellow guy and loves to take lots of naps on the couch. He is gentle and I suspect would do well with children because of his laid-back attitude. Maverick does good in his kennel, even willingly going in there at meal times and bedtime. His potty training is going extremely well, he we take him outside frequently and he doesn't have accidents in the house! Maverick does have some battle scars that show how rough his life was before coming to the rescue. These scars don't bother him at all, he doesn't have any problems with us touching them and the only thing he needs is some sunscreen or a t-shirt tp protect his back from the sun. His veterinarian is optimistic that this scar will shrink a little over time and be less obvious in the future. From his wonderful foster: "Meet Maverick! This poor boy had a rough start as he came into our partner rescue with a large burn down his back. Despite his injury he is a loving boy who is ready to find his forever home! ADOPTION FEE: $550 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event. Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications. We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend! All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Bissell, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Our hearts break for Bissell, and we vowed to find him the home that he deserves. This was an OWNED dog. Bissell was adopted from the New Mexico shelter that we work with a year ago, with a full body of hair. After his adopter rehomed him a month later to a man on facebook, this poor guy clearly was not properly cared for. Fortunately for him, he was surrendered to the same shelter before he could get in any worse shape. He's been neglected, let down, failed, and uncomfortable for who knows how long. Bissell now has a ticket to Colorado to get the love, care, and compassion that he deserves. Bissell clearly has some dermatitis. Our assumption is his "owner" kept him outside for the year he was with him. Bissell has been fully vetted and is being treated for his hair loss. With time, a bit of medication & medicated baths (that he has already received), and good nutrition, we know that Bissell will be looking good again soon! When we heard Bissell's story, and saw his old photos vs his new photos, we couldn't help but tear up a bit. Bissell is such a good dog, who didn't deserve this! He is so friendly with all people, great with other dogs, potty trained, and even knows how to "sit" and "shake". Bissell is believed to be a Border Collie / Lab mix. He is 3 and a half years old, and 46 lbs. Farfel's Rescue and our New Mexico rescue partners would love to see Bissell in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. We'd hate to see him left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home, as he is much too social for that type of arrangement. We'd like to place Bissell in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Bissell has been fully vetted, and he is in great health, up to date on his shots, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.

Story
There's nothing quite like puppy sweetness and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These very loving and sweet as can be puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on the city streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Freya is a sweet and loving puppy!. She has that wonderful kind of energy that is just irresistible. Now at 3 months old, she's blossoming into a fun- loving ball of love and goodness. Freya is also a stunning puppy (these photos don't do this gorgeous girl justice) with the beautiful and cottony-soft pure white coat with black markings that Border Collies are famous for. Freya's forever family will need to make a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are perfect lifelong protocols for general longevity and hair care) to keep Freya's coat super-healthy, shining and as soft as cotton. Freya is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. This snuggly little girl would be very excited to be a couch potato to snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active, busy day. Even at just 10 weeks old, it's very clear that this tiny baby is SO smart, very engaging and as happy as can be - very typical of both the Border Collie and Corgie personalities. There are many that feel that these two breeds are among the most intelligent and engaging in the dog world. Since Freya is just a puppy, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free Obedience level 1 Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in her relationship/bonding with her people. It does take time and commitment, yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Freya out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area. We're open to Freya finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a puppy that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Freya enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Freya has been vetted, vaccinated and spayed to be in line with Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation tragedy in the canine population. Freya will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 8/14/2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet as can be, super-smart and SO snuggly puppy. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Freya, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Buttercup is a 1.5-2 year old Border Collie mix weighing about 35lbs.   Buttercup was dumped at a shelter in New Mexico with 2 day old puppies.  Some crummy human actually dumped a terrified, exhausted, brand new Momma at the shelter to die alone trying to protect her puppies.  When the shelter moved her into a cage with her puppies she tried to protect them (obviously) so the shelter immediately deemed her unadoptable, but was going to adopt out her puppies at less than a week old.  Keep in mind, these shelters in this area are dealing with almost zero government funding and hundreds of dogs being dumped on them, so this is not their fault.   We couldn't let Buttercup die this way and we didn't want her to be separated from her puppies that she loved so much.  We scrambled to get a transport together to get them all here to CO where they would be safe.  Once the puppies were old enough Buttercup went to our board and train program since we had to do our do dilligence since the shelter had deemed her "aggressive".  The day she went to our trainer, our trainer called us within the hours and said Buttercup was the sweetest happiest girl and she did not need board and train, and could be put up for adoption.  We decided to go through with the training program since she was already there and we knew it would set her up for success no matter what.  We do strongly believe in training and will require her adopters take our partner training classes just so they can learn more about dogs and learn about everything Buttercup has learned while she has been here.  Buttercup is a wonderful pup.  She has an amazing zest for life and is just always so happy and social.  She gets along great with all other dogs and people.  She has a good amount of energy just like most Border Collies but she also loves affection and loves to snuggle.  She is everybody's favorite who meets her.  She would be a perfect dog for daily runs/hikes, a doggy playmate, an someone who wants a dog to love and snuggle! Story
Meet Juno! She's a gorgeous 30 pound chocolate Border Collie puppy who's been living with a family who loves her dearly, but Juno and the original resident dog don't see eye to eye. Because Juno is the newer dog in the family, they're forced to find her a great forever home where she can thrive as the only dog in the house. Juno is really smart! She's also incredibly beautiful and wildly snuggly with her people. Because she's a Border Collie -- a breed that loves the outdoors -- she needs to go to a home with a backyard, with adopters who will make her think a little and work to give her enrichment training, and people who will love her as much as her current family does. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Juno, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
