Story
Meet the Magnificent Oliver! Hey there, potential best friend! I'm Oliver, a quirky, lovable, and drop-dead gorgeous pup who just graduated from the Paws-In-Prison program. I've got the brains of a working dog and the charm of a comedian, and I'm on the lookout for a forever home that appreciates a dog with a bit of flair! What You Need to Know: 1. **Brains and Brawn:** I've aced my basic and advanced obedience classes, so I know my stuff. I'm a smart cookie and I need to be included in all the family activities. Boredom is not an option for me! 2. **Dynamic Duo:** I thrive with a second friendly, playful dog. I love canine companionship and need a buddy to share my adventures. 3. **Quirky and Unique:** I've got a personality that's larger than life. I might not be the perfect fit for every home, but if you love uniqueness, you'll absolutely adore me. 4. **Transition Time:** I need about 2-3 weeks to settle into my new home. Be patient with me, and I'll show you just how amazing I can be. 5. **Room to Run:** A fenced-in yard is a must. I love to run, play, and need the space to stretch these long legs of mine. Oliver's Fun Facts: - **Big Dog Energy:** I'm very dog-friendly, but I might be a bit much for some dogs at first. I don't realize I'm the size of a small horse! - **Possessive Pooch:** I can be a bit bratty over my things, but it's something I'm working on. It's hardly an issue anymore. - **Affectionate Furball:** I'll bury my head into you for some good old-fashioned love. I'm a big softie at heart. - **Master of Mischief:** I love getting all the dogs in the yard to chase me around at full speed. It's my favorite game! - **Adorable Weirdo:** I get weirded out by the strangest things sometimes. When I'm overwhelmed, I like to chill in my crate or on the bottom bunk of my doggie bunk bed. It's my safe space. Working Dog Traits: - **Vigilant Vigilante:** I bark and spin when I'm excited. If dogs are roughhousing on the other side of the fence, I'll pace and bark like a referee on duty. If you're looking for a dog who's not just a pet but a family member, a playmate, and a comedian, I'm your guy. I need an active home that understands my working dog needs and can offer me the love, patience, and space I deserve. If you think we could be a match made in doggie heaven, let's meet and see where this adventure takes us! PS- Little humans make me nervous! Kids aren't my thing! Canine Partners Program only places our dogs and puppies into homes that meet "their" needs! Our dogs are fully vetted. This includes spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies, microchipped, Heartworm and Lyme tested, worming, flea treatments, Heartworm prevention started, and any other medical care needed. Hershey's foster home is still learning about her, and she will be available for adoption on 8/31/2024. In the meantime, feel free to submit an adoption application. Hi there! I'm Hershey, a delightful 4-year-old Border Collie who's always ready for a good time. I might have been found as a stray in July, but I promise you, I'm no ordinary pup! My folks never came looking for me, and while that's a bit of a mystery, I know it's their loss because I'm simply awesome. I'm a spayed female weighing in at a perfect 41 pounds, just the right size to join you on all your adventures. Whether it's a romp in the park, a fun game of fetch, or just chilling out at home, I'm your girl! I'm playful, active, and always up for a good time. If you've got other dogs or even cats, don't worry-I get along great with everyone! My favorite thing? Pleasing my people! There's nothing better than seeing you smile because of something I did. So, if you're looking for a wonderful girl who's got a lot of love to give and please, then look no further. Adopt me, Hershey, and let's make every day an adventure together! Hershey's adoption fee is $275. You can learn more about Remi and other dogs at Happy Bark by visiting www.happybark.org PA Kennel License 17445

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Kipsie. I'm about 6-8 months old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Guliford Lake/ Lisbon area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet and loving little girl. I could use a little work with my manners and training, but overall, I am an excellent girl. I am smart and I want to be with my people. I would do great with an active family that can give me plenty of exercise. I get along great with other dogs and I love to play. I am doing a good job of keeping my kennel clean here at the pound and I seem to be well on my way to being completely housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet pup to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Cookie. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh about 45 lbs. My brother, Shepherd, and I were brought into the pound by a local police department after multiple, ongoing issues with us running at large. Our owner didn't claim us, so we are now looking for new, border collie savvy families to join. At our previous home, we lived a lonely life in the fenced back with no job, no mental stimulation and very little physical exercise other than us just running the fenced yard. We became quite the masters of getting under the fence any old way we could. Once we were out, we would meander our way through town. As you can imagine, 2 border collies running through town can cause some mischief, albeit unintentional. I will need a border collie savvy family that has the time and means to properly train me AND ensure that I am receiving exercise. We do still try to get out of fences and cannot even be trusted in the play yards here at the pound unless we are being closely monitored. I have been good around the other dogs I've met here at the pound, but I am not a fan of cats, so a feline-free family would be best for me. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Finn. I'm about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was seized by the pound after being found living in neglectful conditions. My owner was given the chance to rectify this, but did not do so. The day I was taken, I was in a very hot outdoor building, living in a crate that was too small for me. It was a muggy 89 degrees and I had no access to water and my crate was covered with a blanket. Upon intake, I was also polluted with fleas and had some flea allergy dermatitis on my hind end, which is healing up nicely now. I am an extremely smart, sweet and loving dog. It is evident that at some point in my life, someone cared about me. I keep my cage absolutely spotless and I haven't had a single accident since my arrival at the pound. I know many commands/ tricks. The ones the pound has figured out that I know so far is sit, laydown, shake hands with both paws, and... I PLAY DEAD LIKE THE CUTEST LITTLE GOOD BOY ON THE PLANET! I have been good around all of the other dogs that I've met here at the pound and I also did well with the kitties.
