Bijou is a sweet 6 year old 57 lb boxer/bulldog mix girl who loves her people (kids included) when she's given some time to adjust. She's fully house/crate trained. She would prefer to be the only dog in the home and hasn’t been around cats. She knows sit and shake and giving hugs is one of her favorite things when she's comfortable with someone! She does great on leash and loves to be outside, but she’s also happy to chill on the couch. If interested in meeting sweet Bijou, please put an application in at www.foreverhomedogs.org!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Hi there, I'm Precious. They say that I am called this because I am the most precious dog here at God's Dogs Rescue. I came to the rescue in October of 2022 to have a safe place for me to have and raise my puppies. All my puppies were adopted by the end of January 2023, but I am still here looking for my furever home. I am a bigger girl, but this just means there is more of me to cuddle you, because I love cuddling it's one of my top 3 favorite things. 1) Food- I love food and will do almost anything you ask if you have a treat involved. 2) Cuddles- on your lap, on the couch, in the bed wherever there is a comfy space with pillows or a human I want to be there. 3) Kisses- I have a love of giving kisses to people, especially kids. Although not everyone likes it when I try to kiss them and that makes me sad. 4) Honorable mention- I like going on walks or in the car for a ride, although I prefer just lazing around at home. My current fosters say that I am a "house hippo with springs in my feet whatever that means; I just know sometimes, when I get super happy, I feel like I could fly- or jump really high. I love their kids and am very good with them even the tiny ones. I get along with most other dogs I meet, although I have a big personality about me, because I'm a boss, so sometimes other dogs don't like that about me. I tolerate cats although if they give me too much attitude or growl at me, I can't help but to give them piece of my mind. I like most new people I meet although I had a rough start in life so sometimes, I can be a little wary with men, with time though I adjust, and we can become best friends forever. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35).
