Story
NEWBIE ALERT!! Meet Ellie! This sweet girl lost her momma and sadly is now looking for a new home to calm her own. She is a purebred boxer. She is going on 5 years old and weighs 60 lbs. Ellie is a total sweetheart. She has grew up in a calmer — older household and likely that is what will be best for her. She’s never been around small children or cats. She does well with dogs if properly introduced and has done well at doggy daycare. She prefers women over men but isn’t aggressive to anyone. She is crate trained and will use a doggy door. She’s a chill and laid back girl. Breed experience is preferred. Ellie is yes, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
Sugar Boo, a 2 year old 50lb female, Brindle, Boxer mix rescued from the streets when she luckily found herself lost outside where I work. Sugar Boo does fine with our 27lb dog and the 4 cats that live here. Since then, Sugar Boo has enjoyed quite a few road trips to the dog park and to visit friends around town but she is still afraid in new situations and needs a little reassurance when experiencing new sounds, new dogs and new people. She also has met the nephew of the family who is 6 years old as well as his 4 siblings. She loves a good game of fetch to anyone willing to throw her stuffie around. Sugar Boo has learned a few commands like sit and is learning how to build confidence through reassurance and socialization. An ideal home for Sugar Boo is people that will continue to show her the ways of the world, that all people are not bad and to continue to teach her that they all have fingers to scratch her behind the ear or give out belly rubs and treats. She will need a home that will allow her to snuggle under the covers, show her adventure, and continue to train her with positivity, treats and sugars. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. All pets are in a home environment cared for by a foster person who provides temporary care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. Friends of Jackson County is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Story
Abu is a 4-5 month old Boxer mix. Weighing slightly more than 30lbs (and with gigantic paws), this boy is topping off to be a whopper when full grown. If you love gentle puppy kisses and a happy, wiggling butt - this boy is for you. Abu does well with other dogs and loves to play. He is completely crate trained, however, he is not housetrained yet (he's just a baby!). He is neutered, microchipped and up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $110. We are the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM), a progressive animal welfare organization located in Gulfport, MS. Each year HSSM houses approximately 10,000 homeless pets. Every day we are fighting a space capacity crisis as we try to care for the overwhelming amount of abandoned local pets. Please consider visiting our shelter to adopt your next best friend. If you have a question about one of our adoptable animals, please give us a call at (228) 863-3354, email adoptions@hssm.org or stop by from 10am-4pm Tuesday-Saturday. We are located at 2615 25th Ave in Gulfport, MS. OUT OF STATE adopters are welcome, all adoptions must take place in person.
