Story
Laz loves you already and he hasn’t even met you yet! He is a Pitbull, Boxer, Shar Pei mix (per a dog DNA kit I once did) and he is insanely friendly to any human (age 12+) he has ever met! Postman, UPS driver, Amazon delivery, old acquaintance, new friend, he is overjoyed to meet them all! He even does the doggy smile that is such a rare and endearing feature. He is fully and very reliably house-trained. He knows sit, walk, and can be told to go downstairs or upstairs in a house. He is estimated to be 6 years old and if you need a couch potato, he can put in a job application. He is so chill and spends his days just lounging around. If you do take him for a walk, he’s a handsome boy who receives lots of compliments. He is fine with other dogs at a distance and some dogs (smaller, female) within close proximity, but I wouldn’t recommend he lives with another dog. After owning several dogs, he is what I would call an “easy” dog and maybe you’re the perfect fit!

Story
Sparrow is a big ol' hunk of love! And he would absolutely love you if you took him right back to living the good life that he's used to. Unfortunately, 8 year old Sparrow was turned in due to his elderly owners becoming unable to care for him any longer. Sparrow is doing his best not to let things get him down but he's obviously not cut out for shelter-life. He's a people-person and he just loves taking a stroll with a new friend and even chasing after the occasional toy or ball. Sparrow does tend to guard over his things though, like toys and food, so a home with no kids is best. He'll also need to be left alone while he takes his meals. Aside from that, he's a sweet ol' boy and although he's visually-impaired in one eye, that doesn't stop him from enjoying life. Sparrow is well-behaved and will sit and stay when asked, and he takes treats gently too. He's not a fan of cats but he's open to meeting other well-mannered dogs and seeing how it goes. Sparrow hopes you'll welcome him into your life soon! File#72202 4/30/24

Story
Aruba is a beautiful, blue-eyed girl of about 2 1/2 years old. In May of 2023, Aruba was removed from an unfit home and when she arrived at our Newark shelter, she was dehydrated and unhealthy, and she spent some time getting back on her feet. She came to us later and continued on her road to recovery. Then, she had to learn to trust people all over again. Aruba is like a whole new dog! YES, she still needs to get to know you before she'll trust you but that doesn't take long at all and once she knows you, you're her buddy for life. Aruba is deaf but has been learning hand signals which she follows very well. She's received a good deal of training and she's so smart and knows perfectly well how to behave. She will need a home where her training is reinforced, and also where there are no young kids or cats. BUT, she loves other dogs and she also loves car rides, playing, and just getting silly! Aruba is so deserving of a fresh start in life and hopes that you'll give her a chance! Call 609-693-1900 or email: office@ahsppz.org for an application. File#64770 5/8/23

He will make the perfect addition to your family, as he absolutely loves the outdoors. He is housetrained and working on his puppy manners. Willie has a slight eye impairment which does not stop him! He cannot see out of it greatly and is being seen for it. Story
Penny is an 8 year old purebred fawn (reddish) Boxer with ACA papers. She is the friendliest, happiest dog in the world. She never met a person she didnt like. She rarely barks, so is not a good watch dog. She has spent all her life with her best friend, Diamond, who is also a Boxer. We had them since they were puppies, and sadly need to rehome them as we are moving. (We would be happy to keep them together, but its not mandatory if they each go to good homes.) She is up to date on her shots. Her vet records will come with her. She will thrive with a good home and will definitely repay loving attention!

These pups are in Atlantic City, New Jersey too!

Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Kai came to us as part of a cruelty investigation by ACPD and ACPO. He came to us starved, body score 1/9. He had a loving home for much of his life but fell on hard times when his owner died. Fortunately, with police intervention, he was rescued and came to our shelter for care and re-homing. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and fully vaccinated now. Kai is a good boy. Easy to be around, very calm. However, he is dog selective, so we recommend that he be the only dog in the home. We also recommend a home with no small children. Kai is pretty good on a leash and knows basic commands. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Secondary Color: White Age: 6yrs 0mths 3wks

If you are interested in OLIVIA or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. This adorable girl is OLIVIA! She is a sweet, sweet girl who can be a little shy when you first meet her. However watching her personality bloom as she becomes comfortable with her new surroundings is incredibly rewarding. OLIVIA is perfectly content to spend a lazy day on her dog bed watching a movie with her person, or, if you’re in the mood for some exercise, OLIVIA is there and ready. She absolutely loves going for walks and is learning how to walk well on a leash. OLIVIA is absolutely fabulous with other dogs.
