Story
We can’t wait for you to meet our deer friend, Elk!!! Elk is a 30-pound adult retriever/lab mix (and he truly is a dear)! He is a sweet, playful boy who is so generous with his kisses! Not only does Elk have a winning personality, but he also exudes subtle style with his white coat and understated spots. If Elk’s silky, expressive ears don’t melt your heart, his precious nose polka dots will! Send in your adoption request today to meet this elk-traordinary polka-dotted pup in person (and admire these silky ears for yourself!)! **Volunteer Dog Walker feedback: "He got along well with all the other dogs/people, loved getting pets when we took breaks. He was interested in all the good smells along the trail, but every now and then he'd look up at me as if to say are we still on the right trail? So cute, such a sweet boy" Weekend Host Feedback: "Elk was such a sweet boy. We have to cats but he showed little to no interest in them and when they came up to him he barley even reacted. He’s great with kids and other dogs and is always down for some play time, but loves a good snuggle. He’s pretty good on walks and loves to chase any leaves blowing by. Elk is fine riding in the car but it’s not his favorite thing. He sleeps fine in his crate but much prefers to snuggle in bed. He’s super trainable and very food motivated and while he was with me we practiced many different useful skills such as sit, stay, and leave it and he picked up on all of them very quickly!"

Story
I adopted Molly in July of 2023. Not much was known about her history other than she was used purely for breeding and she is 3 1/2-ish. She was kept outside in a very small wire cage, was severely malnourished, and dehydrated. The number of litters she had is unknown. Once rescued, she was spayed but tested positive for heartworms. She has finished her heart work meds and I will be taking her to the vet for a checkup within the next week. When I met Molly I fell in love with her. Despite all the horror I can o it Imagine she has experienced, she is so loving. Being with people makes her smile (so do mashed potatoes…they’re her favorite). She is still skiddish around loud noises or quick movements. She has loved every 2-legged friend she has met so far. And she is ok with my male dog (that’s the only male she has been around so I’m not sure if she is ok with all males). But…she is NOT female dog friendly. I have 4 other female dogs in my home so unfortunately Molly can’t stay. I want to find her a home where she can be the Queen! She deserves nothing less. Please email amanda.zimmer1983@gmail.com with any questions!

Story
Lola is about 1.5 yrs old; she will most likely not grow to be >45lbs. She is very smart and picks up on new tricks very quickly. She knows basics like sit, down, stay, bed, shake (her favorite) and is beginning to learn to heel and center. She is very cuddly and eager to please for a treat! She loves food, especially cheese and peanut butter. Lola generally does well with people and dogs, but tends to not do as well with small dogs. She loves attention. She is a very sweet pupper and just wants to play with balls, be outside, and receive affection. I cannot keep her because I now work long days and don’t have the time/space to play with her as much as she deserves.
