Story
Intake Date: 9 May 2024 -------- Age at Intake: 1 year ----- Breed: Boxer ----- Size: 40 lbs ----- Status: Owner surrender/transfer ----- Compatible with: Dogs, cats, children. ----- Suitable for: home with a fenced yard. ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: none noted ----- Additional Notes: Welcome Jonathan. This boxer boy has a full tail and a full heart. Jonathan came to rescue a bit thin but he will pack it on in no time to a fit and fine looking fella. Jonathan is a happy dog! He reportedly is an escape artist SO we recommend a tough crate when not home or outdoor kennel in the summers. I have a feeling he just wants to be with his people and being bounce around has caused some anxiety for him. He is new to us though and we will work on it. Behavior issues are often a product of environment and resolved when that is modified. He does well on leash and loves every human he meets. Everyone is a friend and everyone needs a Jonathan in their life. Adopt yours today! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption is finalized at that time. Adoption fee is $175 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are not guaranteed but often a best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. If a yard is present, a secure fence is prioritized.

I think she would be so happy in a house with another young, big dog to rassle with. She has my whole heart, she is as sweet as pie. She still has a loud alert bark and drools, and lunges on the leash when startled but is very good at redirecting and calmly sitting to regroup. Her leg is getting stronger!  Her favorite toy is a ball, just to chew on and maybe chase 3 times for fetch. She's an inexpensive gal as she doesn't play with toys still and doesn't chew bones.    Foster Feedback 3/25/24:  Hey everyone! Meet Peppermint Pixie Queen - a beautiful, energetic, and sweet boxer who is looking for her forever home! She's the perfect snuggle buddy who loves to sleep in bed and might even snore a little, ok maybe a lot...and loud. She can be a bit shy when new people enter the room without me, but once she knows she isn't in danger, she'll shower you with slobbery kisses!  This lovable boxer is still learning about toys and bones, but she absolutely adores peanut butter! Peppermint Pixie Queen is incredibly tolerant and is learning when to dial back her playfulness with kitties. She's recovering well from hip surgery and is using her leg about 90% of the time. We still do her stretches and she doesn't mind them but gently let's me know when she has had enough.    Just a heads up, Peppermint Pixie Queen can be a bit messy when she drinks, but that's part of her charm! She's a social butterfly who loves being around people and will let you know if anyone gets too close to her house with her alert barks. On walks, she's friendly but might pull on the leash if there are too many exciting things around, so night walks might be the best time for her adventures.    If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion, this boxer is the one for you! Let's help her find her forever home by sharing her story far and wide.    Peppermint Pixie Queen is potty trained and has had zero accidents.  She is kennel trained but will escape if put in there 3x in one day. She's only been around cats with me and she has learned to play more gently, ignore the cat, and stop when she's getting too rough.  Peppermint Pixie Queen is an absolutely fantastic car rider! We are working on leash manners such as pulling and darting behaviors.     Peppermint Pixie Queen loves sunshine, watching traffic and people, all of the people. She does get scared if you have a stick or broom in your hand and will cower and run away. She has a loud bark that rattles the windows, but stops as soon as I come to see what's upsetting her.  She is very polite and doesn't get into things that don't belong to her. Some vehicles (fire engines with lights and sirens off, postal vans, and some random cars) set her off and she does jerk on the leash and jump to chase them. Once she feels resistance on the leash, she stops but her ears are laid back and it clearly makes her nervous. I haven't figured out what the trigger is yet but she is super strong and will pull someone down if they aren't ready for her to leap out of the blue.   Peppermint Pixie Queen would do well with space to move around.  She does like to burn off energy, so a fenced yard would be great.    To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org July 13, 2024, 1:28 pm
