And sometimes, hope is all we have for them.Such is the case with our beloved Odie Cakes. He is an amazing dog - fast, perceptive, adorable, loving and devoted. But, he also is very prey driven. And sometimes, when he gets overexcited, he reacts quickly, without thinking.Odie found a home but the atmosphere was just a bit too much for him. Despite the best efforts of the adopter, he realized he could not slow down the pace of his life enough to calm Odie.The BEST news is that since being back with us, Odie has been fabulous. He loves all the volunteers, he has a pal in our Finn (with just through the fence play) and he greets each day and each person with happiness.Odie's days are very calm and predictable at the Shelter and that's what gives him the calmness and peace he needs. Odie doesn't need constant activities or other dogs - Odie just needs a person who will live life with him in a somewhat boring manner.We know Odie's person is out there somewhere. PICNIC is a young, active and fun (48 pound) boy who is always ready for adventures. He was found stray so we only know what we are seeing in person and what we are seeing is a vivacious and happy go lucky dog. He wants to meet everyone and we do not promise he won't keep all four on the floor when doing so as his happiness is up there with his energy. He is loving being with other dogs in our shelter playgroup, too. He doesn't listen right away to others' corrections but he doesn't respond either. This boy is just looking for playtime, exercise and love. Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you or meet 1/2 way for the cost of our gas. We are 5 1/2 hrs west of Virginia Beach. Transport runs every 2 weeks. Please note! Don't just apply just because this dog has a cheap adopt fee. You must prove you can afford to adopt regardless! I find that most of the folks who apply for my reduced fee dogs back out when they realize they are still responsible for the transport fee. If this applies to you please don't waste our time! To the VA Beach area we can transport to your location for $200 or we can do halfway for $100. This will cover just my gas with today's high gas prices. You are welcome to drive to us in Mt.Airy, NC to pick up! Scarlett was born 2-1-21. Her mom was a german shepherd golden mix. We are not positive what dad was. Scarlett is active and very loving. She is good with people and ok with other dogs her size. She is too playful for small dogs. She needs a large dog only home. She is not good with cats. She needs an active home with room to run. She would not do well in a cramped up apartment with no exercise. She is house trained and crate trained, This baby will go home spayed and current on vaccinations, deworming, flea preventives, started on heartworm prevention and microchipped. This pup will receive a health certificate issued by our vet prior to going home. The adopter will get all his health records with the adoption. We require a prescreen application to apply.
