Name:   Buddie           Best Guess for Breed:   Boykin Spaniel Mix   Best Guess for Age:   10 months as of 6/14/24          SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   44 lbs as of 8/13/24- he is likely still growing   Gets Along With:     Buddie does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested.    Currently Living at:   Shelter. Buddie needs a foster or forever home!   Check out this video of Buddie:  https://youtu.be/Ef3r61Z3M6Q.   Special adoption considerations:   Because Buddie is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Buddie in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Buddie is Looking For:   Hey there, future family! Name:  Lexie   Best Guess for Breed: Cocker spaniel mix  Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of August 2024       SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:  20 lbs   Gets Along With:   Lexie does well with other dogs. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. When Lexie arrived in the shelter, she was very scared and shut down. However, she has been making great strides. We think Lexie would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to continue to build confidence.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Lexie comes from a commercial breeding operation and has never lived in a home before.  The breeding operation has been shut down, and this adorable pup now has the chance to learn what its like to be a real dog. She hasn't experienced enough of the world and is shy.
