Abby ended up at a high-kill shelter because her owner was moving. She seemed confused and depressed. The shelter volunteers quickly figured out that she was deaf. But that didn't slow Abby down. She enjoyed getting out into the shelter's play yard and interacting with other dogs. And she loved getting baths! But a deaf dog shouldn't be in the shelter for 8 months. So Outta the Cage rescued her, and she is now in a foster home learning sign language and hoping for an adopter. Abby is a 4-year-old bull terrier mix. She is an active girl who would do well in a home with a yard, older kids, and other calm dogs. A neighborhood walk twice a day would suit her fine. She loves to smell all the smells! And, of course, she won't be the one barking during fireworks or when your gardener comes. She's house trained, crate trained, and learning sign language. Floyd is playful, exuberant and extremely loving with people. We have had him since he was 10 weeks old. He gets excited easily but is very sweet and loves being close to his humans. He walks well on a leash, but does get easily excited by other dogs, squirrels, etc. He often has playful moments with our other dog, but at times can become aggressive toward him and other dogs. We also have two young children and my elderly mother living with us; we are concerned that they could get in the middle of a scuffle between the dogs and inadvertently get hurt. We believe he has a sleep startle reflex and should be roused from sleep vocally first. Floyd should be the only dog in a home, and would do well with an owner who has time to train, play and take him on a decent-length daily walk. He really is wonderful and fun, but needs to be the only pet in the house. We love him very much and want to find the best home for him. We do not take rehoming him lightly, but are concerned about our kids.
