Story
We adopted Enzo just a few weeks ago, but we have 3 small dogs that are very afraid of him. Enzo is super sweet and just wants to play with our other 3 dogs, but I think because of his size (80lbs) they’re just afraid of him. Enzo gets along so well with my 2 year old and he is house trained. He has not gone potty in our house not even once. He goes outside when we tell him to and he is just the sweetest dog ever. I hate to put him up for adoption, but my other dogs are just not doing well with such a big dog.

These pups are in Sarasota, Florida too!

Story
Cal is a young, adult male mastiff/coonhound mix looking for a home where he can share all his love. He had a rough start in life as a stray left to fend for himself. He was found by an altruistic person that offered him a temporary home. During this time, it was determined that Cal had likely been struck by a car sustaining a rear leg fracture that healed improperly. Circumstances changed in his foster home and Cal made Satchel's his home. As time passed, it became evident that his broken leg, although healed, was not functioning properly. After extensive medical evaluation, it was determined that the best course of action for a pain free and active life was to amputate the limb. Now, Cal is the fun-loving guy he was always destined to be, running and playing without discomfort. He races about on his three legs, jumps the hurtles in the agility yard and navigates the tube tunnel with more exhilaration than any other dog at Satchel's! Cal feels most comfortable with slow introductions to unfamiliar people but once he chooses a new friend, he is an adoring canine companion. He exudes happiness, jumping with joy when he spots his favorite staff members or volunteers and is most content when being pet by his friends. He is easy to walk, enjoys car rides, and wants to be in close proximity to his loved ones. His new family will likely never sit on the couch alone again! Cal has lived with another canine in the home and has not exhibited any indications that this would not be possible again in the future. For an appointmentto meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website satchelslastresort.org/adopt/

Story
Meet Dom, the ultimate gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws! This lovable boy may be large in size, but he’s an absolute baby at heart. Dom is the definition of sweet. He adores his people and lives for snuggles, ear scratches, and lazy afternoons. Dom is starting to slow down a bit with age (even though he he still loves to run and fetch big ol’ jolly balls), making him the perfect companion for a home that appreciates his calm and affectionate nature. He’d would probably do best as the only pet in the house, where he can soak up all the love and attention he deserves. He is potty trained and easy to walk on leash. If you’re looking for a big, gentle soul who just wants a cozy spot to rest his head and a family to adore, Dom is ready to be your loyal best friend! Here is what one volunteer has to say about him: "Dom really knows how to make a girl feel special with his affection and loyalty. I only walked him once, and then passed by him a week later and he made me feel like we were long lost friends!
