**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Bronx. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 15 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound, along with 2 other dogs, after we were found living outside in crates without shelter from the elements. I am a very sweet boy, but I have had no training of any kind, so I will require a very patient family that can help me learn manners and potty training as I've never been a house dog. I have been good around the other dogs that I've met here at the pound. If you're looking for a sweet little dog to add to your family and you have the time and patience to work with me on my training, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Have you ever made a bad first impression?? Did you wish someone would give you a second ( or 3rd) chance to make a better first impression?? Well, meet Muppie who is the cutest little 27 lb critter you’ve ever met & he makes the worst first impression.  Muppie is 6 years old & lived with an elderly owner who passed away. The family could not keep him & took him to a high kill shelter.  Muppie is a sweetie once you get to know him. He is great on a leash, is great with dogs & cats but the first few times you try to put him in a crate he shows his a**.  It’s all a big show but his first impression definitely does not show his best side!  Muppie needs a forever home who is willing to take the time to get to know him & gain his trust. Once that happens you will have the best little friend you could wish for!!  Willing to be patient?? Apply to adopt Muppie!! Your patience will be worth it!! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   January 22, 2025, 10:03 pm

Story
Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue www.cairnrescue.comI’ve heard people say they are living, “Their Best Life” and often wondered if this was true. Meeting Bumble Bee will convince you it IS possible, and he will show you how it’s done! Snoozing in the sunshine is one of his favorite things along with romping and puppy zooming in his fenced yard. Licking a loved one’s hand, playing keep away and pretending he’s invisible are also at the top of his list. He is a happy boy and loves his life. These may seem like simple things to you and me, but they are his world. You see, Bumble Bee is a very special boy. When he looks at his loved one, his eyes wonder a little and it appears he is “Star Gazing”. He may be licking a hand and then continue to lick the air. Sometimes, he gets so excited that it makes him sneeze and stumble a bit. Fluttering may be the right word! He spends a lot of time napping because he gets tired easily. Bumble Bee’s life is one of simple pleasures but don’t tell him that! P.S. Bumble Bee says, “Buzz, Buzz. Am I the perfect boy for you? I’ll be waiting with love in my heart and sunshine on my back.”FOR LOTS MORE INFORMATION ON BUMBLE BEE ENTER OR COPY THIS LINK ONTO YOUR WEB BROWSER:https://www.cairnrescue.com/store/dogs/ Bumble Bee is being fostered in Mount Olive, IL in a PRIVATE FOSTER HOME but we allow our dogs to be adopted out all over the United States and Canada!LEARN OUR 'ADOPTION FAQS': Any questions that you may have about our adoption process, fees, transporting a dog, and our policy not to adopt to families with small children, can be answered at our main website or going directly to this link: https://www.cairnrescue.com/service/faq/ IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU READ THE FAQ'S BEFORE COMPLETING AN APPLICATION. ONE dog, ONE time a year = ONE life that could be saved! Each and everyday we have the opportunity to save more Cairns in need, but we can't do it if we don't have the Foster Homes to place them in. Would you like to learn more on how you can help? 'Saving just one dog won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog.'October 25, 2024, 4:09 pm

Story
7/9/2024 Update: Junior has come a long way with his barking. He loves to play, get belly rubs and cuddles. He does better in his crate when the fosters are not home and when he is eating. His reactions to everything is excitement. He just wants to be loved. He would be a great companion to someone who enjoys just being around a fun loving, high energy, love bug, long walks, semi-long jogs, or just working on agility in the backyard. A good play mate would be a dog of equal temperament one that loves everything and just enjoys life. Junior comes from Ky as owner surrender due to owner having cancer. He is 2-3 years old and is approximately 12 lbs. His is a nice pup who likes to bark (just being honest here!). He barks at mostly men and strangers. He does great with his female foster and loves playing with the other dogs. He is crated when his fosters are gone and when eating due to another dog in the house being food aggressive. He does not really like being crated and will bark once he is done eating if someone is home; the fosters have cams in the house, so they know he does not bark when they are gone unless someone comes to the door, or they hear a loud noise. The barking is more than most which is why we say he likes to bark (hear himself talk). He loves to play fetch; enjoys the agility course the foster has set up for them in the summer. He is very curious and WILL REQUIRE A PHYSICAL FENCE. He gets a little needy from time to time wanting your attention. Freds Mission Rescue has an adoption radius of 100 miles from Cincinnati. All dogs are fully vetted, altered, current on flea/tick/heartworm/wormer, and microchipped. The rescue does not adopt out to properties with invisible fences or tie outs.
