Story
See Splinter on the news!! https://www.kbtx.com/2024/05/28/pet-week-meet-master-splinter/Many of the dogs we rescue have had a hard life and not known love, but that isn't the case for Master Splinter (and his friend April O'Neil). These two had a loving human that treated them well - they had soft beds, toys, and even outfits. Sadly, their person passed away and that means they lost their whole world and their home. Will you be the one to give this fellow a second awesome home? They are not bonded and do not need to go together.A little more about Splinter ...he is alllllll about his person. He sits at his foster Mom's feet while she works and then climbs into bed to sleep at her feet at night! He knows a good thing when he has it and stays still and quiet all night. :) Splinter is good with most animals but will resource guard the person if allowed so we don't recommend him for young kids or large, hyper dogs. He does play well with dogs his size. He is great on a leash. He has lots of energy and is healthy and happy. He does tend to be a door darter so you will need to be aware of that - he is just ready to go exploring - smile.Do you have space in your heart (and bed!) for this sweet boy? He is such a cool dog!To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

Story
Meet Glen, a remarkable 6 year and 9 month old, mixed breed weighing 27 pounds, with a heart as big as Texas. Glen's journey brought him to Camo Rescue's Houston facility in 2021, where he has been a beloved resident ever since. Glen is a dog full of love and energy, always ready for an adventure outdoors. His favorite activities include running around outdoors, splashing in water, and exploring every nook and cranny of his surroundings. He's potty trained and does good with leash walking. While Glen is a loving dog once he warms up to you. He comes with some challenges that require experienced handling. Glen is very kennel aggressive and doesn't appreciate correction. He struggles most during meal times as he resource guards his food. Glen's forever family would need to be understanding and capable of ensuring meal times are as safe and comfortable as possible for everyone involved. Despite these behaviors, Glen is deeply affectionate and fiercely loyal to those he trusts. For Glen to thrive, he would do best in an adult-only home where he can be the only dog, ensuring he receives the focused attention and structured environment he needs. His forever family must provide a secure and loving atmosphere, along with careful management of his behaviors. With patience, understanding, and the right environment, Glen promises to blossom into an extraordinary companion, enriching the lives of his adoptive family with his unwavering devotion and adventurous spirit. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this special boy, Glen is waiting to embark on his next chapter with you. Glen's adoption fee is WAIVED FOR THE RIGHT HOME. ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Are you looking for a bold, scruffy little "Toto dog to add to your family? Harriet is 12 years old and weighs 13lbs. She is one sweet little girl who is cat friendly and gets on well with dogs around her size or smaller. This little girl seems to like everybody she meets. She loves to snuggle. The shelter from which she was rescued thinks she is a cairn terrier. Based on her personality traits, her foster mom tends to agree. She has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccinations and microchipped. Harriet is heartworm positive but she has received a ProHeart-12 injection for treatment of this and will not need heartworm preventative meds until next May. Harriet does have some orthopedic issues, but they do not slow her down. They just make her walk funny. She will never run marathons but short, slow walks will help build muscle and improve her gait. She does have a heart murmur with minor valvular involvement but x-rays and an echocardiogram indicate she does not need medication at this time for any of her problems. Adoption fee is: $200 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet.
