Story
Great with kids and other animals. She is very loving dog that doesn’t know her size yet and still thinks she’s a lap dog. She also likes to follow us around everywhere. She’s use to the car and going places with us. Likes to be able to touch the person she closest too, like laying on their feet or getting in their lap. We also will be giving you her bed, 11lb dog food, her toys, collar, and leash.

Story
This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2131165##

Story
Cashew is a HUGE bundle of love and energy. Emphasis on energy! He is bursting to learn. Super smart. He will be a big guy. Loves to jump, run and get lovins.  Cashew has been in the backyard and LOVED it. Running, playing, chasing grasshoppers, interacting with our dogs and jumped in the puppy pool! Just needs some manners, which comes with time and training. He would be a little sponge to learn new things.  At the moment he jumps and loves on us. So excited. He might be a little much for younger children energy and manners wise. We don't have a kitty so not sure. Still a puppy and probably wouldn't even care. Love's all people. Cashew sleeps in a dog enclosure. With his sister Almond. They cuddle and then play hard! This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Story
I am part of the "Go BIG for Summer" adoption promotion and my adoption fee is reduced to $200 (instead of $350) through August 31st!Meet Izzy, a 102-pound female Neapolitan Mastiff with a heart as big as her size. Izzy is the definition of sweetness, welcoming anyone who wants to meet her with a wagging tail and a friendly demeanor. She's always on the lookout to make new friends, and her calm, gentle nature makes her irresistible to everyone she meets.Izzy does well around other dogs, but she's more curious about her surroundings than her canine companions. One of her most endearing traits is her unique howl, which sounds like a cross between a cow and a dinosaur-it's both surprising and charming! When Izzy wants attention, she has the adorable habit of burying her head into her human friends, and she sometimes thinks she's a lapdog, trying to squeeze herself into your lap for some extra love.Izzy walks well on a leash and is motivated by food, making her easy to train. Whether as the only dog in the house or with a doggy friend, Izzy will do just fine, as long as she has a loving family to shower her with affection. Are you ready to welcome this gentle giant with a one-of-a-kind howl into your home? Izzy is eager to find her forever family, where she can continue to spread her love and unique charm.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Learn about mill dogs and fill out an application at our website.
