** New Behavior Notes 2/3 **
Bougie ACCT-A-211682 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Bougie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH at 10AM. Should Bougie’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Bougie is a social butterfly! This sweetheart loves making friends and greets everyone with a wagging tail and her warm personality. Bougie is gentle and affectionate, leaning in for pets and belly rubs without hesitation. She’s a pro at taking treats delicately, appears house trained, and already knows how to sit like a champ. Whether she’s engaging in playful moments or soaking up all the love, Bougie’s easygoing nature makes her a wonderful pal. She could use some training for mouthiness as she lacks bite inhibition, so she is currently looking for a home without any children under the age of 15. She did well meeting some other dogs, but can get a bit overwhelmed if the other dog is very forward, so she may do better with slow introductions or with a dog who will let her initiate play at her own pace. She’s ready to bring joy, snuggles, and a little wiggle to your home, so please bring all members of the family and any resident dogs along for a meet! Due to her length of stay, Bougie is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter.

Walksheet as of 2/1: Bougie was walked January 21st - 23rd. Volunteers observed that Bougie is high energy, very sweet and excited. She pulls on leash and is very playful and can be jumpy and mouthy when playing.
Per staff 2/2: Took Bougie out for a dog meet today. Bougie is very easy to leash and pulls slightly when on walks. When seeing other dogs outside she likes to observe and does best with a calmer dog. Will go for sniffs and play bow but if the other dog is too excited and forward, she becomes a bit overwhelmed. Will wag her nub tail and give some body wiggles but would stay a few feet away if the dog she meets is too forward. She wants to play and meet friends sooo badly, but needs some help with confidence building and a calmer resident dog that can help her blossom into a great play buddy.
Per staff 2/2: Sweet dog, food motivated, will put the brakes on when returning inside or kennel.
Per volunteer 2/1: Handled reactive dog well.
Per volunteer 1/31: Mouthy when playful.
Per staff 1/31: Bumping up to 15+ due to leaving bruises from mouthing on staff. Bite inhibition is not great, and may harm a younger child.
Per staff 1/28: Pulls at times, super friendly dog.
Per volunteer 1/27: Sweet girl, so cute!
Per staff 1/26: Bougie was more content sniffing and bouncing towards birds in the yard. Did great with handling of her body and face. Eventually got some bouncy zoomies. Did become mouthy during this and pulled on my yellow gown and eventually my hand/wrist to play. Redirected with a rope toy which she happily took but would go towards your hand that was holding it to play. Did get a latch on my sweater sleeve pretty good and had to throw a toy to get her to release. Also did well with turning away from her to stop her from jumping up to mouth at my hand.
Per volunteer 1/26: She was a very sweet, playful, big girl. She did pull some on the leash due to her size and was definitely excited to see other dogs from afar. She got mouthy and jumpy when playing, so a home with someone who can handle a big, excitable dog and is willing to work with her on her playing manners will probably be best. She was very sweet and liked scratches, but also enjoyed sniffing around and exploring the yard! She was sweet and affectionate, super playful, and loved the rope toy.
Per staff 1/25: An experienced green volunteer let us know that Bougie should be leveled up. Mentioned that she was very aroused, very jumpy, and mouthy. She mentioned that Bougie jumped up for a toy and skimmed her wrist with her tooth, causing raised irritated skin (did not break skin).
Per volunteer 1/25: Interested in/pulled towards dogs. Very sweet, pulled on leash, jumpy & mouth w/ play. Very playful.
Per staff 1/22: Brought Bougie into the volunteer office to meet a group of 8 corporate volunteers. She was immediately friendly with a loose and wiggly body. She leaned on handlers for petting and allowed all over body rubs. She was overall a super sweet girl.
Per volunteer 1/22: Wanted to play with dog. Pulling leash out of kennel.
Per volunteer 1/21: Super sweet, great on leash, seems excited to meet other dogs.
Per volunteer 1/21: Bougie is an absolute doll! She loves to say hello to everyone she meets and truly enjoys exploring all of the outdoors to get all the sniffs! She’s an affectionate girlie who just wants to be spoiled and loved. Who can resist a sweet face like this?!
1/21 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
In the kennel Bougie was standing at the front with low wags, soft eyes and was very patient for leashing. Exited without any issues. No issues returning.

HANDLING :
In the room Bougie was very friendly and social with everyone she met. She was so gentle and affectionate while out, soliciting attention often, leaning in for pets. He was very wiggly and showed no handling sensitivities allowing me to touch her belly, feet, face and was very tolerant. She did well meeting several people and was very social. Gentle when taking treats and showed knowledge of sit.

Per staff 1/21: Sweet girl, came right up to say hi to me.
Summary of surrender notes: They had her for 2 weeks after finding her outside. She lived with adults and was noted to be housetrained and crate trained. They said she was high energy, sweet, and enjoys any toys and treats. She was friendly towards strangers and children, would chase cats, and would bark at other dogs. An ideal home for her would be with “someone who loves to cuddle.”
MEDICAL:
On 1/23, Bougie was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. She tested negative for pneumovirus. On 1/31, Bougie was noted to have a complicated URI. Her course of doxycycline was extended and she was prescribed enrofloxacin. These medications are currently scheduled to end on 2/9.
During her intake exam on 1/20, Bougie had some staining on her teeth, but no other concerns. She was bright, alert, and responsive.
Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately.
