Meet Checkers, an absolutely adorable little tortie girl with a heart as beautiful as her coat.  We estimate her date of birth to be June 6, 2026.  She was rescued from a porch in Southern Tennessee along with her siblings, and this precious little girl has been growing, blossoming, and showing her true personality ever since.  And quietly capturing hearts.   Checkers is one of two tortoiseshell girls in her litter, and when I first looked at her beautiful coat, I immediately thought of a checkerboard.  Her coloring seems to have a little bit of everything — black, orange, cream, brown, and all the wonderful shades in between.  Her coat is a patchwork of colors and patterns, with no two squares quite alike, that seem to change every week as she grows.  She is truly a one-of-a-kind work of art.   But as beautiful as her coat is, it is Checker’s personality that will win you over.  There is not much tortitude here!  She is one of the sweetest tortoiseshell kittens I have ever had the pleasure of fostering.   While her siblings may be the first to dash across the room, Checkers is often the last one out the door.  When mealtime arrives, she is a perfect little lady.  She doesn’t push and shove her way to the front of the line.  She patiently lets her siblings go ahead.  Last to the food bowl, but often the first to purr!   And that says so much about this little girl.  You can see the sweetness in her eyes.  She has a gentle, tender nature that makes you want to scoop her up, hold her close, and shower her with hugs and kisses.  She has a way of making you feel like you’ve just made the best move on the board.    Checkers loves chasing and wrestling with her siblings and is always ready for a little kitten fun.  But one of the things I especially love about her is she can entertain herself beautifully, too.  You might find her tossing a furry little ball up into the air, chasing it down, and doing it all over again.  Or perhaps she’ll settle in with the three-tier tower of plastic balls, batting them around and keeping them moving.  And when the game is over?  She’ll be ready to curl up and purr.   Checkers is a little girl who seems to have decided that life is better when it’s filled with playtime, purrs, gentle affection, and plenty of love.  She’s proof that sometimes the sweetest surprises come in the most colorful packages.   She has already won the game!  She has won the heart of her foster mom, and now she’s ready to find the person or family whose heart she can win forever.   Contact CCR about bringing this beautiful little tortie into your life.  Checkers could be the winning piece you’ve been waiting for.  Make your move now!   Please email ccrnewengland@gmail.com   September 8, 2026, 11:40 am

Your next sweet treat has arrived, and this one comes with four paws, a motorboat purr, and a little bit of tortitude!   Little Skittles was born the first week of June 2026 and was rescued from a porch along with her siblings.  She was the tiniest of tiny, the little runt of the litter.  But don’t let that petite package fool you.  This girl comes with a BIG personality!   Skittles is spunky, confident, curious, and surprisingly brave for such a tiny girl.  Her small size has never stopped her from investigating whatever catches her eye.  She is determined to explore every nook and cranny - and she has some seriously speedy little legs!    In fact, trying to catch Skittles at breakfast can be quite the challenge.  As soon as that bathroom door opens, she “skittles” right out the door.  One second she’s there, and the next you see nothing but a little black-and-tortie blur streaking past you.    After the breakfast sugar rush, it is time for more kitten fun.  Skittles loves wrestling with her tortie sister, Checkers, and chasing her two brothers. Meet beautiful Dove! She is an extremely shy girl that will take time to warm up to you. She has come a long way in learning to trust her humans. She was found as a stray and we are learning more about her each day. She seems to love spending time with her kitty roommates here at the shelter and would do best in a home with another kitty friend to help her come out of her shell. She would thrive in a quiet and calm home where she has time to show her true personality. Dove has so much love to give, but will require a good deal of patience and consistency from her adopter.
