Story
I live in a rural area, and took Buttons in because he is so incredibly sweet and trusting and for his own safety, as there is a pack of dogs recently in the area killing many feral cats. No one locally has claimed him, and he is not microchipped. I had him neutered and given all shots. Vet says he is about a year old. I have two older male cats who, unfortunately, are not receptive to Buttons at all. So I am having to keep them separated. Buttons needs a loving home where he will remain safely inside. He has done extremely well living in the house, although he does beg to out. He uses a litter box with no issue, has not scratched furniture, and loves to play with the basket of toys and in the cat tree, to cuddle, and have attention. He would thrive with other cats with proper introduction. He wants so much to interact and play with my two cats, but they just are not having it, and he always tried to play with other feral cats, but they weren’t receptive either 😞

Camera’s out, say cheese and show those pearlies 😁🧀 This cool dude does it best when it’s time to pose for some pictures. I think he was a celebrity in a past life 📸 Cheez-It is about a 2-year-old, DSH who is litter box trained and seems to do pretty well with other cats and dogs! Cheez-It likes to observe people from tall places, as well as listening in on our conversations as if he really understands us 🤓 Orange cats, am I right?? Although, chill is like the perfect word to describe Cheez-It because that’s just what he does all day 🙌🏼 If you'd like to meet Cheez-It, please give us a call (405-282-1776 ext 1776) to make an adoption appointment!

Story
Zetta was a neighborhood stray when she became pregnant and was taken in by a kind hearted cat lover. Zetta had five kittens in the woman's spare bedroom and after she found a home for 2 of them, she called PAWS-OK for help with the other three and Zetta. Zetta is very calm and friendly but a bit shy at first. She hasn't been trusting humans for very long. This petite little girl was a very patient mom (as you can see in the video!) and is now looking for a home to call her own. PAWS-OK is a small foster based non profit rescue operating in the OKC area since 2008.  All our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for feline leukemia and FIV, up-to-date on their vaccines, litterbox trained and fostered in a volunteers home.  We are committed to placing our rescues in the most loving homes that we can, regardless of how long it takes.  Our kittens are kept with their mothers for as long as possible and not offered for adoption until they are at least 16 weeks of age.  A handful of our available felines can be seen in the PetSmart Adoption Center in Rockwell Plaza (8357 N Rockwell) during normal store hours.   If you are interested in adopting a new cat from PAWS-OK  for your family, please go to our Adoption Request form at  https://form.jotform.com/pawsokrescue/adoption-request-form .  Your Request will be processed by a PAWS Volunteer who may reach out to you via email to clarify your information if needed. Processing normally takes 2-3 business days.  If your request is approved, an Adoption Counselor will contact you to set up a phone interview or a time to meet with them at our Adoption Center.  If we cannot help you, we may redirect you to other sources for a cat that may better fit your situation.  Thank you for looking at our available cats and kittens.  If you have any questions, please reach out for us at pawsokrescue@gmail.com.  July 12, 2024, 2:56 pm

Story
My name is Pip and I was born in a PAWS foster home on 4/9/22. My mom was a free roaming cat that had had a few litters in an area that wasn't very safe for kittens so her caretaker surrendered her, when she was pregnant with me) to PAWS-OK.  I am very independent and curious but also very active.  My foster mom says I really wanted to be a dog because I "bark" more than I "meow" - some people think I am upset when they hear me but it really gets your attention (which is what I want!).   I was adopted with my sister when I was about 6 months old and the very next day we both came back to PAWS-OK because we had "too much energy" for our new owners.  I don't care for carriers very much - I like big areas where I can stretch my legs and run and play.   I need a cat savvy home because I can be a little hard headed (like about going into a crate???) with a family who will love me for my bold attitude. Please fill out a Adoption Request Form if you are interested in adopting me! Story
Jelly Bean was adopted in 2015 with her sister, Cupcake to an older couple and returned to PAWS in January 2023 due to her owners illness. She is a little bit shy at first with new people and is currently 18 pounds. Jelly Bean could use an owner who understands portion control and the health benefits that "Bean" will see if she is able to shed a few pounds including being more active, more comfortable and easier to carry! She is on a portion control diet of 2 dry kibble only meals per day now in her foster home and has adjusted to it just fine. She would do best in a quiet home with no dogs and possibly as an only cat. She hasn't had a good reaction to other cats in her foster home despite being raised with her sister. Story
Hazel is a sweet adult kitty looking for a home where she is the only cat. PAWS-OK rescued her in the summer of 2021 with her litter of kittens from the MWC Shelter. She is a regular at our Meet & Greet events at A1 Pet Emporium due to her FIV status. She is very healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Hazel was tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV and is positive for the FIV virus. As such, exposure to other cats who are not also positive should be severely limited to prevent the spread of this immunodeficiency virus. Even though FIV+ cats can live very long happy, sickness free lives with proper and regular medical care, exposure to other cats who may carry other viruses can be problematic for Hazel whose immune response will become less effective, especially as Hazel ages. Fighting which includes deep penetrating bite wounds, may also transfer other cats to FIV. FIV is a species specific virus and not transferable to humans or canines. PAWS-OK recommends that cats with FIV live in homes as only cats or with cats that already have the virus. Hazel's FIV status can cause cat virus related ailments to manifest faster and be more severe that for cats who do not carry the virus so prompt veterinary care is required at the first sign of sickness.
